Take photos of your car before it is handed back.  They tried to say I'd nearly £800 of "damage" but I was able to argue my case and all costs dropped and car accepted with fair wear and tear.
Yes I would have definitely done this anyway thanks

I was hoping to buy my lease car in two half payments one being debit card and the other credit card. The documentation says ‘payment can be made by debit or credit card over the phone by calling this number’.  The reply message says that this department is permanently closed and so to pay by BACS or CHAPS. Unfortunately I can only afford to buy the car the credit/debit card way.
So you're going to pay half now, and put the other half onto your credit card to pay off later? And nobody will lend you the money via a cheaper route?

How you fund the car is not their problem. They do not have to accept plastic as a payment method.

As far as "stung for something on handing it back", so long as it's in the condition you agreed to hand it back in (which will be the BVRLA fair wear and tear guide), then there's nothing to be "stung for". And if it's a lease, they don't even have to let you purchase...
They state on their documentation you can pay by DC/CC which would have applied pre lockdown.
They are letting me purchase the car which was time sensitive by 30th June.
I now have to pay another months rental due to them changing to BACS only payments post lockdown and going into July. Paying by CC/DC would have avoided this.
Retirement funds  I have been expecting are arriving 1st July and not end of July as I was first informed so a BACS payment can now be paid.
