The fact is that you obviously did not read any manuals before posting your 'advice' and you would not have thanked southcoastrgi, agreeing with him that wiring the new programmable stat as fenwick458 suggested would blow it up if you had, which shows your lack of basic knowledge.
At least southcoastrgi humbly admitted that he was wrong.
Wiring two timeswitches in series is a complete bodge and certainly not logical.
A real engineer does not make silly assumptions and then state that "I prefer to do things properly"!
