Vodafone and paying contract early advice

Options
Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advice if possible.
I paid my contract in full t in september, or so I thought. The contract was due to end in this month in June but as I paid the contract in full I thought I was out of contract at least that's what itd me when I signed into my Vodafone account. So I decided I was going to stay with Vodafone until June then look at my options. Last month I had a text from them soing I owed them a month. I contacted them and they confirmed I did but if my contract was paid in full I'm not sure how I did. So I set about looking for a cheaper deal and switched on the 15th of May.....now Vodafone are saying I owe them an early termination fee of £61 odd. I'm just looking for some advice as to if this is correct or have they got it wrong or maybe I read things wrong.
I'd be grateful for any advice thanks in advance and hope everyone is staying safe

Did you contact them before paying the contract of?
because you would have had a termination charge at the time and they would have mentioned it.
It sounds like you paid the bill and thought that was it but its not because like i said you would have got a termination charge on top of the bill.

Your contract don't just finnish normally it goes onto a rolling contract and you have to give 30 days notice before you leave thats a normal 12/24mth contract. ( i know it's nothing to do with what's happening now just a heads up for the future.)

  • Yes I contacted them before hand and they told me in terms of ending the contract early and paying in full I needed to pay x amount so gave the agent my details to pay the amount. It just doesn't add up to me because even when I logged into my Vodafone account it said the contract end date was September (because I paid early) and not June the original end date of the contract.

When you switched to another network did you take your number with you with a Pac code or did you just get a new number?
when you use a Pac code it has 30 days to be used or your contract won't end but if you use it as soon as it goes over to the new network the contract finishes automatically.

  • Yes I used my pac code and took my number with me.
