Aqua Credit card - can i ever get an increase in credit?

Hi.. i have an aqua credit card that i got as a replacement for my tandem one. I know these cards are meant to be for people who have bad credit (which i do not have) and they would rather i not pay off immediately.. but i have a measly £900 credit limit and i was wondering has anyone had any success with getting a credit increase?

From my experience with Aqua usually within 3-6 months they lift it, then again 6 months later dependent on you showing you use and pay it off

My first CC was with Aqua and before I knew it they’d given me a 3k limit as a student was ridiculous.

I had the Tandem Cashback card got a  Aqua Cashback in Late Jan (limit £1200),  hardly used in Jan/Feb (£62)  Mar was £700, start of  April limit raised (unrequested) to £2450
Always pay full balance each month.
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

The Aqua limit does go up (mine did) but I can't work out what guidance they use.  Certainly, if you ask for an uplift they say "no, and as you asked you are now frozen for minimum 6 months"

Yes, I had one now for just over a year and my starting limit was £300, the card was increased at month 3(1300),8 (2050),14 (3550) and is now sitting at £3550.

How long have you had the card? Yes they do go up. There is an option to request a higher limit within the help sections if you want to chance your arm and see what they say. Aqua is part of NewDay - and I have a couple of NewDay cards - the other being the Amazon Platinum card. Aqua was my earlier obtained card, and that went from £450 to £1700 and hasn't gone up in a year. Amazon was my later obtained card - started at £1500 4 months ago, and I recently tried a manual request for a rise, and was given  a new limit in excess of £2k (Still low by most standards, but a step in the right direction). If you've had the card for over 6 months you could try the manual request option, if not be patient and see what happens.

Yeah i got mine in Jan but havent had anything and everytime i request one via the app (not messaged them), it literally says that i cant.. its beyond frustrating. Maybe i should just not use it anymore and hope they up it. Its all paid off and usually paid off on time so i cant quite understand why..

Yes - after my rise to £1700 - my app request always says no - yet my amazon platinum said yes (same card owner). Have you tried an eligibility checker for another New Day card? There are a few (including Amazon Classic, Amazon Platinum, Topshop, Topman, Debenhams to name but a few) They didn't want to up my limit - but later approved me for a new card.

if you don't use it they cut your limit

I applied for one two years ago. I used to use it weekly for the shopping and petrol and paid off in full each month, then I applied to Santander for a better rate one, stopped using the Aqua, maybe just once a month, and they cut me from £3k to £1k

Aqua increased my limit 3 times but today aqua has decreased my limit from £2250 to £1500, I have never paid any interest 😕 so I don't know why they have done this

Just reducing risk in a time of economic uncertainty. If you aren’t really using it then there’s no harm for them in reducing it, and stopping you for example going out tomorrow and putting it to the max.

not saying that’s what would happen but it’s common with lenders at the moment
