    Why is that funny? I must be missing something. 

    Heritage unwashed potatoes in my veg box have been similar recently.

    Unwashed potatoes tend to last better than washed ones.  Having said that even the unwashed ones this year aren't brilliant but that's due to the wet weather we had during the growing season.
