I always thought that your current car insurance supplier would be more expensive?

For the last two years my current car insurer has been the cheapest. Each time I shopped around they have beaten the lowest price from the major price comparison websites.
Is this a change in how Insurers operate?

No. Sometimes the best deal is with your current insurer. Sometimes it isn't. It isn't guaranteed either way.

I'm with Admiral since 2012, simply because I can't find cheaper comparable policy.

It's just like the myth that package holidays are always dearer than booking each element separately. Just a myth. In both situations it's always worth checking.

I couldn't beat my renewal quote this year but I had several quotes within £1 or £2 of the renewal price. This made me think I was probably at the 'minimum' premium for someone with my profile, but it also could be coincidence.0

for the last 3 years my renewals have been cheaper than the cheapest search result1

Not always. I've been with Aviva for more than 10 years and every year no one else can beat their renewal quotes for both home and car. I do have several policies with them however which induces a discount.0

My renewal is next week, I started on the comparison sites last week and all quotes were at least £30 dearer than I paid last year.
Got my renewal from GA today, only £10 up on last year.... but £20 off if I renewed straight away! result! Wish my home insurance was so easy.

Been with Direct Line for years, every year when i get my renewal I search the comparison sights if I find I can get it cheaper anywhere else I ring DL and they have always match the quote, just renewed this year and it was actually cheaper than the previous year.0
