NOW TV ADVERTS, SKIPPING POSSIBLE?

I know for an extra £4 month you can get advert free Now Tv, but I'd prefer not to have to pay more than necessary for my service. I've tried skipping adverts by fast forwarding when I know they're going to begin, but it seems to make no difference as far as I can tell, I still have adverts to sit through. Is it not possible to bypass the adverts by fast forwarding?   Sky tv spoiled me by allowing me to zoom past the adverts whenever the fancy took me, so it's hard to get used to having to sit & twiddle my thumbs whilst waitng for the program to continue after the ads now.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Not sure why it comes as a shock to you to have to sit through adverts, that's what you would have had to do before on-demand ever became a thing.

What is this "advert free Now TV for £4 extra a month" of which you speak?

It might also help to understand which ads the OP is trying to skip.

Obviously, if they are watching a Live Stream of a broadcast channel, then the ads are fixed in time and run concurrently with the broadcast.   They can't be skipped because that would involve moving the stream into the future, and we don't have a DeLorean on hand to do that.  :)

With the On Demand content from Sky channels, there are no ads as such.   There may or may not be trailers.

With the other on demand content, Now TV has no control over the channel operators' decision to place ads in their content.   For the commercial broadcasters this advertising supports the service.   With a couple of the channels, you can elect to play all the ads in advance, and then when you rewind the program it plays in one go without any breaks.  All4 certainly works like this.

A DeLorean on its own won't do you any good, aside from getting pulled over for speeding when you reach 88mph.  What you really need is a Flux Capacitor which is what does the magic ;)

Don't forget the flux capacitor won't run on petrol, it will need something with a little more kick - like plutonium. It's electrical but will usually require a nuclear reaction to generate the required 1.21 gigawatts of electricity

A Mr Fusion works too if you don't have any plutonium.

So my dilithium crystals aren't of any use?

You would need an electro-plasma system and there are known compatibility issues with the Delorean and this type of intergalactic technology.

If you watch Sky channels on catch up via the Virgin TV box, the remote has a skip button which jumps 30 seconds at a time. I have noticed that many of their catch up programmes have all the ads at the beginning now, so skip first 4 minutes, and no more ads. A PVR would be of little use as Now TV is via an app.
