Fingers crossed, I give my boy white fish, either haddock or cod, good price for 3 packs from Iceland - I poach in drop water with milk and combine with rice.

I hope that today goes well and the news is not as bad as feared.

Just had a phone call from vets. Dog has a kidney infection and has kidney failure  but might bounce a bit back with a course of antibiotics. The vet recommended a special diet too. Good news was that the ultrasound showed no sign of tumours. They've given him an anti sickness injection and he's currently eating. Also recommended plenty of water should be available.  Pick up at 6.30 and a follow up appointment booked for next Monday.   Thanks for all the support!

Kidney failure can be managed with food and medicine.   Unfortunately not cured.   But great news no tumours.

My cat 17 years old managed for 3 years with this and it was cancer which actually was the cause of my having to let her go.  You will have to take and get his blood work done at first usually 1-2 months, Delilah was up to every 4 months and stable.

My poorly pup was eventually tempted to eat boiled extra low fat turkey mince (including the broth) and sweet potato, which is still one of her favourites. Extra low fat diet. Hoping your pooch responds to treatment

He will feel a hell of a lot better and be much happier when the infection is cleared up, even if his kidneys are still struggling.

Thanks for your support. The only problem I have now is getting the antibiotics down him. Have Googled and looked on youtube.
Dog won't stay still enough to get a tablet at the back of the throat with what seems tobe the recommended method. (Hold nose and open with one hand and insert tablet with second hand.). Has also turned up his nose at a  tablet dissolved in water. How \I wish I had got him used to opening his mouth eg for teeth check without squirming when he was a pup. Have resorted to cutting up a cooked meaty sausage into chunks and inserting tablet . Will update in a weeks time when I go back to the vets

Our dog can be a swine for taking tablets but we can currently convince him to take them if we wrap them in a bit of ham or chicken or his favourite stuffed into a cube of cheese.

I've tried stuffing the tablet into some brie because I can wrap it easily around it. He licked the cheese but spat out the tablet, He's not daft! Not tried hard cheese yet. Will do next. I've previously wrapped tablets in ham. He's eaten the outer layer and left the tablet. Perverse or what! So for now it's sausage but I'll have to go shopping later to get a supply of sausages in for the rest of the week.
