Old Fogey needs Advice Please - Vodafone A20e or Samsung Galaxy A20?

Options
Hi  I have a Vodafone Ultra 6 which is about 5 years old and playing up, so I want a new phone. I need Vodafone as that has much better reception out here in the sticks. Also want PAYG as I don't use it for phone calls much at all. Mainly whatsapp, googling, emails, FB etc. Also for photos.

I am trying to decide between above the two phones, I don't want to spend more than £150. . I want to keep my existing number, I can see they both have nano sim cards. Does that mean my existing card can easily be put in the Galaxy with nothing extra to do.?  Any comments or other ideas welcome. I will probably order from Argos as shops not yet open and I am still trying to keep isolated as much as poss.  Thankyou.

Nano sim is the very small sim .Just ask your network for a new sim if needed .

    Hi,

Samsung are great but have you considered switching to another manufacturer? You can get way more bang for your buck with the likes of Xiaomi, absolutely fantastic phones and they take a much better photo than the likes of the A20 etc.
I’d recommend the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T, it sells like hot cakes in my store.
And yes nano sims are the norm in the vast majority of devices now, I can’t post a link yet as I’m new but it’s retailing at £179 on the Mi website atm, very much worth it for the 48mp camera alone.

Personally I wouldn’t fork out for an A20 at all.

Re the nano sim question. Simply remove your existing sim from your phone (having powered it off beforehand) and check the cardboard mount that it is in.

If the cardboard shows the outline of a smaller mount then all you need to do is press out the inner mount containing the sim and that will fit into your new phone. If not then you will need to order a new one from Vodafone and get your phone number switched across to it.

Before going through all of this process, make sure that all your phone numbers (contacts) are backed up to Google or are all held on the sim card. When you switch to your new phone all this information will be carried across. Ideally make Google the option and when you start up the new phone just sign into your Google account and it will automatically download phone numbers and apps etc.
  • Thanks very much for this Neil.

  • Sorry  just realised I showed wrong model number info for the Vodafone I was looking at.  It is the Vodafone V10 32GB

I am just wondering if it is worth paying the extra £40 for the Samsung, possibly it has a better camera

Seems to be only a £5 difference on the Vodafone website, so I'd probably go for the Samsung.
Xiaomi is definitely an option to consider too.

As a side note, consider Voxi and Lebara as they are generally more economical than Vodafone PAYG with identical coverage.
