Is MSE a consumer champion or not?!!!

I have tried repeatedly to get MSE to take up a significant general consumers issue, but all I get an automatic reply:-
"Sadly neither Martin nor the site are able to answer MoneySaving questions on a personal basis as the site has 10 million users and we aren’t able to provide one-on-one help. Rest assured if we know the answer we put it on the site."!!!
This is neither a personal question and nor is it anything to with debt or a crisis at all as is suggested by the response.
How can I take this matter, which affects most people at some time, surveys, competitions and free trials and get this looked at by MSE HQ?

    From the terms and conditions:

    What we do

Our Site is all about sharing information on MoneySaving. We provide regularly updated general information, tools, clubs and services with our views on how to save money. After many articles you'll find a link to discuss the articles with other MoneySavingExpert.com users via Facebook – plus our Forum is full of people sharing tips, hints and information on how to save money. The information you read on our Site is a great starting point for your further research into what suits your particular MoneySaving requirements.

There isn't a mechanism to have specific issues looked at in the way you seem to be suggesting.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Got a story for MSE News?
Let the team know at news@moneysavingexpert.com
  • Slightly off the subject but I really would have to question the idea that MSE has 10 million users, they might send out 10 million emails week after week but how many of them are still active?

This is the only publicly available data as to site metrics https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/moneysavingexpert.com#section_traffic

It needs to be taken with a huge pinch of salt as its algorithms are secret. In saying that it's all we have. By any measure it isn't great and the slide in traffic seems to coincide with the downgrade of forum software
  • interesting figures ranked 11,565 th in global internet traffic, I bet that was better 6 months ago ?

It was much, much better six months ago. The slide has been dramatic.

Alexa rank is not traffic so I wouldn't read too much into it. A site's overall traffic could, in theory, increase while its Alexa rank declines due to other sites being indexed with higher traffic overall...or other sites' traffic increasing more.

Good point but unfortunately it's the only publicly  available data. What I would say is that it probably gives an indication of what's happening. Not a very accurate indication but the best we have.
  • Our own common sense tells us that MSE is fading and fading fast, last year I would have spent 2 hours on MSE by this time, today I have spent less than 15 minutes and I'm off to bed now, to put it bluntly MSE is boring now, too many good people have been driven off and too few post much of interest, this was a site that should have gone from strength to strength instead it's being slowly demolished ! :'(
