Phase 1 & Phase 2 Eligibility and payment periods (someone Fact check me)

Phase 1 - Was payment for March, April May ?
Phase 2 - A second grant payment will be made to eligible individuals in August 2020 in respect of the months of June, July and August. The Government have made it clear that this will be the final extension of the scheme, and that no further payments are to be expected.
Ok so far however .gov website says " If you make a claim for the second grant you will have to confirm your business has been adversely affected on or after 14 July 2020."
So if the carp hits the fan in JUNE but work picks up in July , i get nothing ? (or am i just being dim and reading it wrong lol )

Or is it meant in a looser sense eg covid has Still effected business on or after the 14th of July.? (due to an action/situation pre July)

Posting a link to what you read will help. Going by what you said above then i read it as, if your work increases after 14th July and you're not adversely affected then you won't be able to claim the grant.

The quote is from the updated guidance here https://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-a-grant-through-the-coronavirus-covid-19-self-employment-income-support-schemepoppy12345 said:Posting a link to what you read will help. This scheme is being extended. If you’re eligible for the second and final grant, and your business has been adversely affected on or after 14 July 2020 you’ll be able to make a claim in August 2020. You can claim for the second grant even if you did not make a claim for the first grant.I think this actually means that if someone were adversely affected in June only they could apply for the first grant provided they did so by 14th July (but not the second).
There are some adverse impact example at the end of this guidance https://www.gov.uk/guidance/how-different-circumstances-affect-the-self-employment-income-support-scheme

You have to prove you've been adversely affected after 14th July. If work picks up after that date and you can't prove you've been adversely affected then you won't receive the grant.

That's the first grant. The 2nd one is for June, July and August. For the 1st grant you have to claim it by 13th July.

I don't understand why your business has to be adversely affected on or after 14 July when the grant presumably relates in part to June, but that's what it says.0

I can’t see anything that ties the first grant to being adversely affected in a particular time period, it seems to me therefore that if you are adversely affected prior to 14th July you claim the first grant even though the payment is nominally for March to May.Jeremy535897 said:I don't understand why your business has to be adversely affected on or after 14 July when the grant presumably relates in part to June, but that's what it says.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated.
