Suing for a car accident

If someone has damaged my car can I get a couple of quotes from
different garages and sue him based on the amount of cheapest quote
given to me?
Or am I required to actually get the car repaired using my own money and the sue for costs?
Many Thanks0

First of all you need proof (as a minimum on the balance of probabilities) that the other party caused the damage.
Then you need to offer them the opportunity to come to an agreement on the level of costs to be covered. (i.e. send them a Letter Before Claim). You should get 2, possibly 3, quotes for the work (to an acceptable standard) and propose the lowest cost (assuming it is not ridiculously low) ... you cannot arbitrarily choose a repairer (who may be ridiculously high cost) and then expect the other party to cover that cost.
Only then could you think about court action.0 -
Either way don't forget to notify your insurance company.Did the other person damage it in a vehicle, as in a RTC, or damaged it in person?0

He has damaged it by driving in to me. My insurance already aware of it.

Then why not let your insurance deal with it?Mishomeister said:powerful_Rogue said:Either way don't forget to notify your insurance company.Did the other person damage it in a vehicle, as in a RTC, or damaged it in person?

Why isn't it being dealt with by the insurance companies? That is what we pay them for!Mishomeister said:powerful_Rogue said:Either way don't forget to notify your insurance company.Did the other person damage it in a vehicle, as in a RTC, or damaged it in person?

Do they? They basically invented a whole new language by consistently misusing their pre-existing languageshaun_from_Africa said:

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride1 -
@Mishomeister - is your first thought to any issue to sue rather than follow due process (or are you just American) ? I recall previous similar post(s) from you on other topics

Claiming on my insurance will cost me loads in no claim bonus loss and excess payment. Why exactly should I suffer any finwncial losses that arose from no fault accident?bris said:You claim on your insurance, did you not know thats why you buy it in the first place?2
