    Whilst COPD could be a disability for employment law purposes it is not, as I understand it, automatically one.

    Was the employer made aware that the OP considers themselves to be disabled? What medical advice do they have to back that up?
    Or, was their condition so severe that a non medically qualified person should reasonably be aware of it?

    If COPD is a permanent condition - then you could have a case for disability discrimination. I would speak with ACAS
    Really? I can’t see this being true at all.

    What don't you see as being true?  That the COPD is a permanent condition or that there could be a case of disability discrimination?
    I read the post as saying if you had COVID you would be classed as being disabled and thus being fired for having COVID was a case of disability discrimination.

    COPD = Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
    COVID = CoronaVirus Disease

    I am guessing the OP meant they were shielding rather then actually having it. Depending on why they were shiedling may have a case for disability discrimination.
    The OP said, "I received a letter of the NHS stating I had to self isolate until 30th June ".  Their COPD status would be a reason for the advice.
    (Note:  COPD is not Covid)
    Opps misread that part.
    Ha ha,
    me too, I thought it was a typo

    So which one of you was working for farmfoods? you appear to be suggesting it is ‘him’ but on this thread you say he is employed through his own Ltd company.

    then in this one it gets muddled again which of you is doing what

    It would really help to be clear who is the person affected in this thread and whether it is the same person in the other thread, although they seem to have had a much longer employment time.

    He has a Ltd company that he was working through agencys but then a full time permanent position came available at ff so he took that. He had only just finished he's 3 days training when he received the letter off the NHS and phoned ff straight away to inform them that was a Saturday they waited until the following Friday to phone back and sack him

    Did he receive a letter recommending that he self isolate or the one that recommends shielding - your post states that he is isolating? They are totally different. Having COPD managed simply with inhalers does not, on its own, usually lead to a recommendation to shield.
