Faulty Hotpoint Dishwasher 15 months old AO.com

Hi all,
I purchased a Hotpoint dishwasher in Feb 19 from AO.com and after paying for installation etc I paid circa £300. 15 months on just a few months outside of warranty and the item is playing up, its not allowing the default eco wash mode to be selected and when selecting another wash mode it sometimes fires up and sometimes doesn't. I contacted AO.com as my contract is with them and they said they'd contact the manufacturer on my behalf and get back to me. They didn't get back to me so I followed AO up today as I feel its them I should be dealing with as that's who the contract is with. When I called the system automatically put my call through to the manufacturer - I tried again using another number as I thought the system perhaps recognised my telephone number but the system would only allow my call to be placed through to the manufacturer when I gave my order number.
Hotpoint gave me the option to pay for a repair at £115 or to buy a warranty plan for £14 per month and to include another kitchen appliance to the plan. If the item was perhaps two years old I would consider this but given its just over warranty it sticks in the craw and I'm wondering if I should pursue my statutory rights instead? Am I being reasonable here?
If so i'm presuming that I need to arrange for somebody to come and visit and to make a report to see whether there is an inherant fault is that correct? Do I need to go back to AO.com and tell them I'm doing this at all? Or do I just go ahead and get somebody to inspect?
Any thoughts very welcome

Warranty is not your consumer rights its just an extra .Consumer Rights tell the vendor you wish to go down the CR route not via the manufacturer .They may ask you then to provide a report .You pay for that and claim back if found in your favour .0

That makes sens . So do I need to now complain to / contact AO.com and advise that I wish to pursue CR?
Or do I just go ahead and get somebody to review and write a report and provide to them ?1 -
I am currently having much the same problem, though I went straight through to Hotpoint, after reading the paperwork that came tiwht the machine. I bought mine in February 2019. One year warranty. Two faults that did actually start under warranty but I didn't report them then. 1) bluish tinge to cutlery not solved by reducing the number on the rinse aid setting to 1, and 2) when on the eco setting the detergent dispenser button occasionally didn't work so the programme didn't wash and dry properly. Now it's doing it most of the time.
The Hotpoint person on the phone seemed to be saying 'they do their best but sometime things fail at any stage', To be fair this was after she suggested taking the plug out and putting it back in - which I will try. But the above remark made me cross and I said that wasn't the case under British (should have said English) law and it wouldn't do. So I am trying her idea but need to know how to proceed if that doesn't work.0 -
have a look at the warranty plan, £14 a month for minimum 6 months and they will replace everything that is slightly dodgy. I did this with my 6 year old fridge freezer. Plus now the six months is up they say i can have all the money I paid off any new appliance, max 50% off.
So have a good look if you don't get anywhere with getting it repaired.1 -
The Hotpoint 'turn if off then on again at the socket' suggestion resulted in the detergent dispenser opening but the tablet just fell a few inches down the door and stayed there - it has also done this before on occasion. Of course now I wish I'd reported all these problems much earlier. I had the same model for 14 years until it packed up. Fed up with this one and the shrugging response from Hotpoint. Still haven't had a reply from AO, email sent 4 days ago. Not even an acknowledgement. Phoning isn't always easy when you have a hearing impairment...0

If you close the dispenser and wait around 20 minutes you should hear the dispenser opening and you can open the dishwasher and chuck the tablet in the bottom.0

If you have a pre rinse it could all dissolve before the main wash.0

OK, tbh I use powder at the moment so didn't think of that0
