Booked a flight from New York to Toronto with Air Canada but they won’t refund (offered a voucher). They say it’s their policy not to refund even due to coronavirus and that the flight will still go ahead. Tried to explain that we are not allowed to fly from the UK so we can’t even get to New York! They say because we booked a “non refundable ticket” it still doesn’t apply. We will not be planning to go to Canada in the future as we were going to visit relatives who return to the UK permanently next year. Is there anything we can do?? I’ve even emailed them to plead our case but they won’t budge.0

See if your travel insurance will cover you. You won;t be able to get a refund from the airline if the flight is going ahead,1

Love Holidays are uncontactable due to go to Rhodes in July. Because our holiday was booked JUNE 2019 as non refundable we can not change anything dates, hotel, flights and Insurance won’t cover us if we cancel as our booking reference will change!!!Just want to move holiday to 20210

According to their website they are currently working on holidays up to 30 June. I think you will just have to be patient and wait until they contact you to advise of your options and keep checking on their website for more info. Unfortunately if (and it IS a big IF) it is all steam ahead on your date in July with quarantine removed this end, you would have to go or lose your money but I think it is unlikely although Spain is planning on opening up on 1st July, it isn't planning on accepting UK holidaymakers then. Not sure about Greece. My daughter is in same situation (due to go Tenerife on 12th July) and wants answers now! But have told her she just has to be more patient and not go cancelling it herself in anticipation. I know it is hard but....that's how it is.braimfamily said:Love Holidays are uncontactable due to go to Rhodes in July. OP, how about some basics: is this flights, accommodation, or a package? Precise dates of travel, and the date you requested a cancellation/or amendment?
What is your reason for changing it? If the flights and accommodation are available, then you can travel. Greece reopens 1st July for the island airports. You will be tested forCOVID-19 on arrival and required to stay in a designated paid-for hotel the first night, if you test positive you must then quarantine for 14 days. And quarantine back in the UK too, unless the regs change in the meantime.
If you simply don't fancy travelling, then no, you are not entitled to a refund. The clue is in the phrase you used: 'good deal, non-refundable'. That means that you can neither amend or cancel it.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Better to start your own thread, but briefly, no, you are not entitled to a refund. Your travel to NYC is not their concern, that is your own responsibility, so, if the flight is available, there is no refund if you can't use it. You can't cancel because you bought a non refundable ticket....self explanatory.gaynork said:Booked a flight from New York to Toronto with Air Canada but they won’t refund (offered a voucher). You don't give your intended dates of travel, but, at present, you can't enter the USA from the UK, so your travel insurance policy is your best hope.No free lunch, and no free laptop

By the way, no chance with Air Canada - right now they are not even refunding flights that THEY cancel, because the Canadian government has told them they can just issue vouchers. Probably a legal fight brewing, at least for flights out of the UK (as they are still subject to EU regulation on compensation) but for your flight, you're lucky to even get the offer of a voucher.macman said:
