Booked via Loveholidays to go to Las Vegas end of July flying from Manchester.

Virgin changed my flight to Heathrow. I have a new flight number which means old flight was cancelled so understand I can now cancel (Virgin confirmed this). Can I do a chargeback or do I have a set procedure to follow?

I have contacted LH who have advised 14 days for a reply.

You normally have to try and sort it out with the holiday company first before a Chargeback, I would give them the 14 days if no contact  or they try to say you have to take a voucher then file a Chargeback
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

Cheers mate, would I just quote the EU law to Barclaycard when I explain the reason for the chargeback?

I would say  my flight has been cancelled (so claiming for non supply of service) and you have rejected any vouchers or rerouting of your flight as you are entitled to do under English and EU law.

Perhaps I should add that I haven’t made the last payment yet? That’s due in 3 weeks

As long as you have proof of cancellation you won't need to make final payment,  just claim monies already paid

What about ATOL protection? I know in theory I won’t need it, but let’s say I do as they challenge the chargeback?

ATOL is only relevant if LH goes under, if it does you can get your money back that way.

ATOL only applies it a company goes bust, irrelevant at the moment. As is chargeback until you have attempted to deal with it with the company first.

I have, I spoke to them on chat three weeks ago and they insist my flight is still happening from Manchester. They don’t even know about the cancellation and subsequent change. That in my eyes means they are unwilling to help even though I’ve made them aware.

I also read that chargeback does not insist to speak to the supplier first?
