20 ish years ago via pc /tower/wired mouse etc I transferred photos to discs. Then via laptop with cd drive treansferred more. Years on I use a chromebook, and have found forgotten discs and am unable to view them, but want to. Now I'm looking for a £300 ish laptop with cd drive for mainly geberal surfing, emails, google photos, google mail, google keep. I don't need it for gaming, films, spreadsheet etc.
Any suggestions, recommendations

Can you not borrow a laptop with a CD drive to copy the photos from the discs to e.g. Google Drive? Would save buying a new laptop just for one task.

Does the Chromebook have a usb port? If so just buy an external drive for about £20. just make sure the usb is the correct size (usb A or C) both totally different

Do you have any friends/family who have a machine with a CD-ROM?
If so just buy a USB drive and get them to transfer all the files.1 -
I've read the amazon ad, but there is no mention of it being compatible with acer chromebook 14, so have left a question.hollie.weimeraner said:Does the Chromebook have a usb port?
