Schools have never closed to key worker children, which part of the UK are you in? Why did your school not have this discussion with parents 2.5 months ago?

Then again your username is probably a clue to where you are. Silly me.

Did Wales completely close all schools then? In England they have always stayed open for key worker children. If you have doubts if you are one then you probably arent, what is it that you do?

If you are a key-worker, then your employer will have given you a letter stating the fact.  At some employers, there is a mix of key-workers and non-key.
  • Schools in Wales are, and have always been open for the children of key workers.

Only 3 schools around me stayed open and only 40 kids where allowed in each school. I work in a factory and I was given a letter to say I'm an essential worker but due to my hours my kids didn't need to go to school.

Then you have answered your own question. You were given a letter to say you were an essential worker, so therefore needed and a key worker.

Yes, essential worker for the factory.  Is that the same as "key worker" as defined by the Government?  If you were always a "key worker" what is the question in your OP as I can't see what affects you differently now the schools are opening more.

I was thinking this. Essential worker is not the same as key worker and the governments criteria was very clear as to what they deemed “key services”

Schools had an overwhelming amount of people applying for key worker spaces when lockdown was first announced and they used the list to work out who could have a space and who couldn’t.

Many were disappointed at that time and when my children’s school reopened last week we were told they could only accommodate a certain amount of key worker spaces and if there was too many requests then the school has a final say on who would be allocated a space. Im not saying that will happen but it is something you need to be aware of if you don’t fall in the keyworker list.
