Glad you got it resolved in the end - refunds often cause confusion with payments as different card providers seem to treat how they process them in relation to crediting the account differently.

Was the refund greater than the statement balance that the DD would have taken?0

RG2015 - I still owed about £55 and this is the balance being taken with my next direct debit, thanks.
That is in the statement now due to be paid at the beginning of July.
