How on earth does that help the OP?

In addition, nobody knows that low mileage was a factor in this fault .. we don't even know what the fault is yet. People need to look at the name of this site once in a while.
    It doesn't
The suggestor has absolutely no idea if the OP has good reasons for not using a bike
They or the children  could well be disabled and unable to ride a bike

seems this thread has gone way off topic.
    back to the question.

    What options do i have?

    1. Ask the dealer (does this mean the orginal dealer) for a discount
    2. Go legal
    3. kick it up the chain to audi and see what happens?
    4. use social to drum up some noise

The posts about school runs and how to use a engine arent helpful. Im not a car person it was purchased because its massive space and ability to move a family of 7 around no issues.
I've already given your options. Speak to Audi UK and if getting nowhere invoke your statutory consumer rights against the dealer and finance co.

    I’d talk to Audi UK.

I think there's enough telling you the above to not discard the advice as "strange".

So it definitely shouldn't have failed at 21k no matter how you used the vehicle unless you were racing or rallying it which I doubt.
The 3 year warranty doesn't matter a toss. Consumer laws in this country actually make no limit other than the statute of limitations. The limit is "what is deemed to be a reasonable lifespan" for the item in question. For a car engine that's not 21,000 miles and 3-4 years for a car maintained properly especially when even low end manufacturers are handing out 7 year/100,000 mile warranties.
However with the above, after 6 months old the onus is on you to prove there was a fault there at manufacturing. This doesn't have to mean a faulty component, it can mean a design fault. An example of that was the Nvidia 8000 series graphics chips fitted in gaming cards and laptops. There was a flaw in them which meant that every single one ever made would fail because of this flaw and I saw manufacturers of laptops honour a repair/replacement on laptops 4/5 years old long after any warranty ran out because Nvidia held up their hands and put out a statement about the defect.
Unfortunately you're likely to have to pay for an engineer to inspect it and do a report however you should be able to recover the cost of that if it's proven it was the issue mentioned. Ultimately though this is likely to end up in court if Audi dig their heels in.

Say you had a Q7 with a broken engine. You could go to school on bikes instead.

Surely some posts are plain strange rather than plane strange.

One crucial question that might be addressed is who owns this car on PCP and how much of this is their responsibility ?
If I were the OP I would be looking at their relationship with the finance company in all this
Simples. The financier share equal responsibility with the retailer. Which is very likely to mean "none".

OTOH, the OP has a contractual obligation to hand the car back to the financier in a working condition at the end of the contract - or pay the balloon value and own it.

so the £18k for the new engine has been resolved "i think"
Audi HQ is going to pay, Dealership will pay and i will pay "£4.5k" - still a kick in the nuts for a £70k car with enginer failure at 21k miles but better then £18k

So they're taking 3/4 of the bill, you're taking 1/4.

    That's a good result.

I hope you'll take the other comments on board when this car gets replaced at the end of the finance period.
