Whilst on my laptop ( windows 10 ) this morning looking at items on Amazon UK ( a new dressing table for my grandaughter ) also on Amazon DE as the item she wants is shipped from Germany so thought it might be cheaper to purchase in Germany, Anyway all of a sudden the screen changed and it started blaring out a warning that my computer had been accessed and was in Windows Lockdown with the message being repeated ,the voice was female and American sounding telling me not to try and switch off and contact Windows on a Toll Free Number ,sorry did not write it down, i managed to switch my machine off.
I then re-started it and ran Malwarebytes which found no problems and then ran Windows full scan, took nearly aan hour but again found no problems.
So have i been scammed/attempted to scam etc. any help greatly appreciated.

Sounds like it was just a pop-up spam window. Were you definitely just on Amazon?

I'm using uBlock Origin in my Chrome, Firefox and Edge browsers. The added benefit is that you can apply custom filters which make the MSE forum much more usable ... mine are as below:

Just in case it downloaded a nasty of which you are unaware it's worth running another two Malwarebyte apps adwcleaner_8.0.5 and their rootkit one mbar-antirootkit. They're perfectly safe.
I know Domestos kills 99% of germs, but I'm worried about the 1% that got away.1 -
Another vote for uBlock Origin (there are different versions with slightly different names...) to which I add Ghostery, on Firefox.
