I pay my licence fee so why can't I watch BBC I player when I am abroad?
The BBC quote "technical issues", now amazon prime and netflix don't have "technical issues" , so why should the BBC?

Amazon Prime and Netflix are geo-locked to specific markets, not necessarily the same offerings in all locations. The argument is probably going to be how to determine whether a connected user is entitled to view the iPlayer or not, which is relatively difficult so far as the internet is concerned.0

Use a VPN?0

Your TV licence is only covers you in the UK, it's worth nothing when you are abroad.0

When abroad the only way you can watch bbc iPlayer is with a vpn - however the bbc technical guys seem to be getting better and better at spotting them, and banning them, so it’s a bit hit and miss as to whether they work. When I was living in Malaysia I found that Nord vpn worked best - but even then I had to keep changing the connection often, reloading and trying again. Sometimes I wouldn’t get access for a day or two - and then struck lucky again. And yes, I did have a Uk tv license.0

The only reason for you having a UK TV licence would be if a member of your household was watching live TV of BBC iPlayer while you were in Malaysia, otherwise you were just throwing money away.cymruchris said:When abroad the only way you can watch bbc iPlayer is with a vpn - however the bbc technical guys seem to be getting better and better at spotting them, and banning them, so it’s a bit hit and miss as to whether they work. Another member of my family was based in the Uk at the same residential address - so it was used there 👍pphillips said:

my point about all of this is that I pay for my BBC licence so why can't i watch it anywhere?
I think BBC need to get some sort of pin system so that people can take what they pay for with them
I have e mailed but heard nothing back from the BBCEarly retired in summer 2018 and loving it0 -
Simple - it's a UK TV licence, not an international TV Licence.
Also, I don't think the BBC has the right to broadcast all the content internationally.1 -
It doesn't. That's why you cannot access Iplayer from outside the UK without a bit of subterfugepphillips said:

Why should the fee to allow you to watch TV in the UK allow you to watch TV when not in the UK?frugal90 said:I think BBC need to get some sort of pin system so that people can take what they pay for with them1
