Do you think quarantine will become similar to self-isolation?

We are stuck in a position where we have a trip planned in early July but none of it has been cancelled, and insurance isn't doing anything until the airlines cancel. Everything was booked separately (outbound, car hire, accommodation and return flight) so my protection seems a lot lower. If the trip isn't cancelled we're basically faced with going and then quarantining or not going because we can't quarantine... either losing the £8000 paid or potentially losing our jobs. We're more worried it won't be cancelled as one of the party work for the airline we will use on the outbound and they are getting their fleet airborne ready for July 3rd and are already flying passengers to limited destinations.
Most of the group are emergency services workers and will not be able to quarantine for 2 weeks. Some countries are treating quarantine the same as they are other COVID related isolation measures, to stop people from essentially returning to work with the virus after travel. Some are also offering rights to unpaid leave for quarantine. Has anyone said anything of this nature in the UK? I haven't seen but so many different ministers say different things it is hard to keep up.

Nobody knows enough on here to give you an answer.
Talks across Europe at government level are ongoing , legal action by UK airlines against the government 14 day rule and no lifting yet of the FCO adviceEx forum ambassador

Where are you going? Possibly by July they may have one of these ‘travel bridges’ operational which may not require the quarantine rules to be followed.0

Some reports that the FCO advice will be binned within days.0 -
This is interesting, I didn't realise there was so many exempt workers... what isn't clear however is "are they exempt if their trip abroad was for leisure rather than official business".bradders1983 said:Emergency service workers not exempt?
This link seems to outline the many professions that are exempt, it seems slightly positive that all of the party are one of the professions listed.

"registered health or care professionals travelling to the UK to provide essential healthcare"
Well, technically you all would be.0 -
The exemptions makes the whole quarantine policy a mockery - either quarantine everybody or nobody0

Indeed, you can also add the entire Formula One community and full football teams travelling to European games to the list now. Famously, none of those can catch the virus.gettingtheresometime said:The exemptions makes the whole quarantine policy a mockery - either quarantine everybody or nobody1 -
And that technically your flight could land at Dublin instead of Gatwick , take off again and be exempt on arrival at Gatwick as Dublin to the UK is allowedEx forum ambassador
