Electric Heating Options

Hi All,
I was hoping to get some advice or views on overnight storage heaters compared with oil filled electric radiators. I'm looking to replace my existing storage heater and my current plan is to purchase a Dimplex Quantum heater, mainly for the increased level of control over the heating and more modern features. However an electrician mentioned an alternative option of installing an oil filled wall-mounted radiator, saying that they were cheaper and quite energy efficient.
I'm on an Economy 7 tariff and know that I would need to switch my tariff if I were to install an oil filled radiator. I'm not too concerned about paying a high fee for the Quantum heater if it proves to be at least as efficient as my current heater, but equally if the oil filled radiator provides a similar level of energy efficiency then it could be a cheaper alternative. So I wanted to get some views of peoples' experiences when it comes to the different heating options and if anyone has any advice on the matter.

You might get better/more answers in the ENERGY forum.
Rather than here in LPG, Heating Oil & Other fuels

I hope that your electrician isn't so disastrously incompetent when it comes to electrical knowledge and safety !You'd be going from night E7 rates (expensive) to single rate (crippingly expensive) or to E7 day rate (bankruptcy). If you own, get gas if you possibly can. If you rent, move. If neither is feasible and you'll be stuck there for a long time, get Dimplex Quantum or similar. That's really all there is to it !0
