I know YBS uses Natwest's clearing to pay its transfers, and I also know any payments I make from my YBS account will take a day, but they should not be allowed to label it or call it 'faster payments'. Can we not get this chnaged to shame them in to actually improving ?

Maybe check the Faster Payment scheme rules before posting?

Faster payment rules mean by the end of the next working day,
a lot of building societies operate like this, you set a payment and it gets batched out for payment next day3 -
The clue is in the name - faster not fast0

YBS are quite clear about payment timescales. They are within the parameters of the Payment Services Regulations, and not really different to many other Building Societies. https://www.ybs.co.uk/help/payment-guidance/payments-from-my-account.html1
