Hi,
Apologies for the basic question, however cannot seem to find the answer online, my contract is due to expire with O2 on the 14th June, I am looking to move to another provider(O2 deals are rubbish in comparison now they don't go through Carphonewarehouse) should I have given 30 days notice of my intention to leave, prior to the date of my contract expiring, or if I phone them up today and advise them I do not want to move onto a rolling contract after my contract expires will that be enough to avoid any exit charges?
Thanks in advance

You have to give 30 days notice.
The contract doesn't expire, it reaches the end of the minimum term and becomes a 30 days rolling one unless you do something.

You can ask O2 for a PAC by sending a text message to them. Then on the 14th of June give this code to the new provider, you can do this by text (or online) and they will transfer the number to your new company. I normally send the PAC in the evening and sometime the next morning the transfer takes place but you can check how and when your new company does this. The O2 account is then closed and any monies due are taken by them.
If you don't want to transfer your number you can send a STAC code request by text.0
