Had a lovely day with family celebrating DDs 16th birthday. The cake went down well, people have said I should sell them. It’s a possibility although I would need a stand mixer or something first as I did this one by hand. Hand mixing buttercream is no fun lol.
Up to date debt totals are:
Virgin (mine) £4,627.88
Virgin (DHs). £6,104.89
MBNA (DHs) £4,457.98
TOTAL £15,190.75
This month is just set for minimum payments still so Septembers total will be just under the £15k mark. As soon as this months payments have come out I will change the payments to the MBNA card to include what we where paying for the loan, sofa and Other cards. We will get there, hopefully before the 0% deals on the cards end in 2022.We aren’t in our overdraft at the minute but that may change as I still need school uniforms and birthday presents for DD2,DH and niece but I know it won’t be by much. Then next month I will cancel the facility0 -
Had a very speedy weekend. One of my uncles lost his wife last year and he is struggling. He put a post in a family WhatsApp group so DH and I decided to surprise him with a visit. As he lives 270 miles away we decided to make a weekend of it and visit other family that I have in the area. The whole weekend cost us around £300-£350. It was lovely seeing my family and also getting to spend quality time with DH and our 2 girls.DH has now gone back to work as he cancelled the 2nd weeks annual leave he had. I’m still off for another 10 days.I’ve managed to get 3 loads of washing done and most of it dry. Just had to put some in the dryer tho as the heavens opened.
Still got to get DH a present for his birthday at the weekend as well as something for my niece. Then the following week I will have to get DD2 something for her birthday. She is desperate for a dog and we have been discussing it but we aren’t 100% sure at the minute.
Ineed my boss to sort my hours out at work as well. On the off duty it says that I owe 10 hours which I know I don’t. When I have looked it’s something to do with my annual leave. For some reason my annual leave is only for 30 hours For one of this lot of leave when I work 37.5. The rest of my leave for this year is also for 30 hours per week.Another job on my list is to sort out child benefit for DD1 as they will stop paying me in September. DD has decided that she no longer wants to be cabin crew which is the course she has gotten a place on in college but she doesn’t know what she wants to do. She seems to have it in her head that she is going to do A-levels Even though she has told me she knows she will have failed all her GCSEs plus hates exams and academic work. Part of me thinks it might have something to do with her girlfriend saying she is doing A-levels at the same college. I suppose I just have to let her make her own mistakes though however hard it is.0 -
Turned down an extra shift on Saturday as it’s DHs birthday. Part of me is thinking I should have just done it as it’s over £100 but then I think family time doesn’t happen often.
I am doing an extra shift tomorrow though. I suppose if I change my mind about Saturday I could always see if it’s still available.
I need to try and log into the credit card accounts to change direct debits but once again I’ve forgotten the log in details lol.0 -
Just getting ready for my extra shift in work and I’m already starting to regret saying I would do it. I’ve just had a shower and I already feel hot and sticky so I’m dreading what work is going to feel like0

Back from school uniform shopping for DD2 which has set us back £202 and that doesn’t include shoes. It’s a shame my girls are completely different shapes and sizes as I’ve not been able to save any of the uniforms. I still need to get shoes for her as well which I know will cost around £50ish. I have brought cheap shoes in the past and have had to replace them numerous times through the year. I know if I pay out a bit more we will get the full year out of them.
DD1 has just come downstairs as well saying that she will need money for clothes for 6th form!0 -
my overdraft has gotten bigger 🙁 August is always so expensive and as we have only just started back on the debt busting journey we didn’t have anything set aside. Roll on payday/s when I can start paying it down. The cards haven’t been used again which I am happy with so just have to take that as a small win.I made DD2 a cake for her birthday so that’s 3 cakes made this month which people have commented on and wanting to know if I sell them. This is something I am now seriously considering. I have only just started making cakes since lockdown started and the 3 birthday cakes that I have made for my girls and DH are the only ones I’ve ever done. I’m still learning different techniques. I wouldn’t be able to do that many with working full time but it could be away to bring a very small bit of extra money in.1

Not posted in a while but there’s not a lot to say. Youngest has gone back to school after a mad dash trying to get her some shoes. I originally wanted to get them from the catalogue as I didn’t want the stress of actually going shopping with her. I ordered 3 pairs for her to choose from even tho she didn’t like any of them. She is after those really expensive ballerina type shoes which I refuse to get her as 1 they are stupidly expensive, 2 they are totally impractical for school especially seeing as how she gets 2 buses and 3 school say they don’t allow them.
The 3 I ordered turned out to be to big so I need to send them back. I planned then to take her shopping on the Tuesday before she went back but then I picked an extra up in work so I couldn’t take her. Ended up sending her shopping with oldest DD. I’m very surprised they both came home in one piece pmsl. I did get a text from DD1 saying that she was going to kill DD2 tho. I can just imagine how much they were winding each other up.
I’ve also picked up 5 extra long days in work this month so that should be over £500 extra money coming in the house to clear the debts down.
A Couple of friends from work have asked me to make them a cake so I have decided to send that money to an account I opened a few months back and just leave it there. It’s not going to be much money but every little helps.
DD1 has said she doesn’t want to go back to her dance class which is a shame but I’m not pushing it. DD2 on the other hand can’t wait to get back to her drama classes.

Nothing of interest to report really. Still chipping away at the debts. I need to log in to the accounts to see what’s what but I keep forgetting the log in details lol.
Sold 2 cakes so that’s £37 into the savings account that is solely going to be for any cake sales. I’m not planning on making loads of cakes as I am so busy with work at the minute. This week alone I’m working 4x 13.5 hour shifts and 1X 7.5 hour shift. My cousin asked me to make her a cake for her daughter. When I told her how much she sort of back tracked. I know how much other people charge for cakes and didn’t charge her anywhere near what others would charge. The size of cake I quoted her £40 and I know the going rate is £50+ I will just see what happens with that one lol.
I’ve sent the 3 pairs of shoes back to the catalogue so that’s got rid of them.
Now that dance classes are back on and my girls no longer do dance I think that I might have to sort through all the shoes and costumes and see if I can sell them. I have a weeks annual leave next month so can sort them then.
DD1 has started college so I need to get her bas pass sorted on her phone. She also has been offered a Saturday job, it’s only temporary but it’s a start and it could lead to a permanent post.I think she will probably get a shock with how little she will be paid as I’m assuming it will be minimum wage for a 16 year old. She is wanting to pay for her own mobile phone as she wants a more expensive package with much more data on. I’m going to try and talk her out of it.DH and I are treating ourselves to a meal out tonight. We haven’t been out alone in such a long time so I’m hoping it does us good.0 -
Just finished work and I’m so tired. I’ve been in work for over 70 hours this week. I know they are short again tomorrow but I need a break or else I will get sick.
Someone from work has asked me about a cake but it’s been so busy so we haven’t managed to discuss what she wants or when.
Ive sent the shoes back and they have been taken off the catalogue account so that’s back at zero.I’ve tried to open DD1 a bank account online but they want proof of address for her like a bill or benefits letter. Since she is only 16 these are very difficult to provide so I don’t know what we are going to do about that for when she starts work. I will have to see if I can get it sorted for her though.0 -
Just a note on the cakes , I have ordered 2 cakes recently from a family member , she charged me £45 , so I think your £40 is very reasonable. Sometimes people want things for nothing because they are family. I hope you get a lie in today after your long days. I have a DD who is a nurse and long days used to see her in bed very late after she finished them. What did your DD decide to do at college in the end . She has done really well getting a Saturday job , maybe encourage her to save a little bit of her wage . Have a restful day .Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.1
