Prudential looking for deceased relative?

Hi all,
I got a letter from the Pru yesterday saying they are looking for my father who died 20 years ago, I do vaguely remember a man from the pru coming round when I was a child.
My dad dies when he was 50 and there was no probate needed.
any idea what that might want?
Thanks

Only one way to find out.......
Maybe he's due a payout of some sort from a policy that wasn't known about at the point he passed away.

He may have had a pension or some form of personal insurance policy with them.  Is there a telephone number on the letter?

Usually it means that they have a policy with a value on it where he would have been the owner.

Your father would now be aged 70.

I wonder if he had a pension policy with the Pru with a designated benefit age of 70?

yep he would turn 70 this year. its the not knowing that's killing me, although I am certain it will be a very small amount if anything

  • So bit of an update, I have been corresponding with the Pru and they have a pension in my dads name, its complicated as he died, then my mum died all 20 years ago so lots of paperwork and tings being exchanged and a potential curve ball that I may have to find the other executor of my mums will (I was the other) and haven't seen her for 7/8 years and have no current contact details or way to contact her.
Anyway the words the pru used were 'substantial sum' although I am very certain it wont be 5 figures anything would be a nice surprise.
