  • im unsure as to the width of the drive thru as at this point havent measured it, but do you know who could legally verify this on my behalf, it did seem impossibly narrow more so than other drive throughs - Audi tt, dont recall any signage. many thanks
I have a tape measure, tell me the address of the drive-thru and I will go and measure it.

  • I believe that there is generally signage present to advise those with poor width perception to grease up any perceived obstacle with their burger to aid passage.Female friends have assured me that judging measurement is often a problem with drivers of your type of motor car.Indeed some drivers trying hard to convince ladies that 3 inches is actually 6.

Earlier today, i entered a mcdonald's drive thru with cars behind and no way to back out. Once i entered i realised the drive thru was extremely narrow and seemed more so than the usually narrow drive thru's. I cautiously made my way through until there was simply no space to get around the narrow corner. This forced me to scratch and dent the side of my car on a metal post trying to squeeze through. I believe this drive thru was not reasonable for me to drive through, without damaging my vehicle in some way.
Has anyone had a similar experience and/or can anyone give advice on who I can report this too? Ive already been quoted several hundred pounds for a repair.. : (
    Many thanks!!!
    What vehicle were you driving?
    What signage was there?
What width was there between the posts?
All he has to say on the matter now is 'qqqqqqqqqq' - I take it from that - that maybe he's still in the queue for his burger.

it's probably best to go to specsavers for an eye test rather than try a drive thru.  Ask Dominic Cummings for a recommendation.

Takes a special kind of incompetence to hit a barrier in an Audi TT, a car that's only 6 centimeters wider than a Vauxhall Corsa and the same width as a Vauxhall Astra. I'm sure that there were Astra and Corsa sized cars in the queue in front of them who managed to go through the drive through just fine.
  • This is a wind up.
  • Wonder if the TT was 'slammed' and modified in a way that reduced its ability to navigate tight corners
  • I think most posters are forgetting what AUDI stands for,

    Attention! Useless Driver Inside.😉

Thanks, do you know who could verify this width legally on my behalf?
Well, I am surprised at the deletion of the original post. I really didn't see it going that way at all, not even for one second.

Here's the subsequent replies for posterity, in case they somehow disappear, too.

With the recent forum changes, I just wish that one thing that was implemented was to make it impossible for an opening post to be modified or deleted after a short time from posting. (10-15 minutes would be reasonable to allow for any errors to be corrected.)
There's been a recent run of posters who didn't get to read what they hoped they would so instead of admitting that maybe they were the ones at fault, had a toddler tantrum, threw their toys out and deleted their post.
