A friend sold his 4 year old Jimny for what he paid for it,

OP.  Stick with brand.  A Suzuki SX4 may be cheaper than a Vitara and both will be reliable.
SX4 isn't a bad car - although not as nicely appointed on the interior finish as the Vitara. Suzuki as a brand tends to have fairly decent reliability, (there's always exceptions in every brand of course) but try to arrange a test drive of your shortlisted models to see which you prefer on the road. (Test drives will look a bit different at the moment though I'd imagine - a dealership near me is now offering self-test drives where nobody comes with you - and you get let loose on your own!)

I'm going to have a look at this as a first:

on Saturday. If anyone has any thoughts on it. I shortlisted it originally at the end of February, so be interesting to see how they "sell" it. o:)

Watch Carwow reviews and check his score on cars, I find they help me decide on cars.

Plenty of car for the money and the Boosterjet is supposed to be excellent. Allgrip a bonus if you think you may need it.

They are built for a price, tinny doors, cheaper plastics and you can see the wear on the driver's seat bolster, but a colleague has a 4 year old 1.6 2wd, bought new and she has had no issues with it whatsoever.
