You can get it changed but a lot of people don't. Be interesting to know if OPs V5C engine number matches. OP could get another replacement engine but there's normally an element of risk in that you don't know the history or state of the replacement engine. I would never knowingly buy a second hand car with a replacement engine.

I imagine if you take it to somewhere like we buy any car.com they will check the engine number. If I buy a second hand car I always check the engine number matches the V5C. I would never buy a car with a replacement engine.
    I see
So someone has a car that has done 80K miles and has paid for a brand new Main Dealer fitted Engine with 12 months warranty
You prefer to buy a car of the same mileage that needs cambelt, waterpump clutch etc replacing?
I do agree that great caution is needed as any type of reconditioned  engine may mean "dragged out of the nearest breakers, pressure washed and painted silver"

Ah, but tthe main dealer just bought an engine out of a scrapper on eBay from some dodgy backstreet.

    Obvs.

They all do it all the time, y'know. Then they get the workshop cat to fit it.

Much better to get a mobile mechanic to fit the engine on the road outside your house. Salt of the earth those mobile mechanics. Always use the correct oil too.

Noo....they're part of the establishment. Much better to grab some random person off the street, have them watch a few Youtube videos, put some tools you bought off the Sunday market in their hand and get them to do it. Only then will you get a proper job done according to Fred as apparently as far as he's concerned you can only do it properly if you've watched random people on the internets doing it on Youtube.
