    I have always been a cat hater! :neutral: I'm sorry! I've always had rabbits or whilst I was at uni, a hedgehog!! :smiley:
    Anyway, after losing henry (my little African Pygmy Hedgehog) I haven't had any more pets. Mr Compet has always had dogs but i've never had one even though I absolutely love them. Hopefully when we get the house, we'll get a pet. He wants a dog, as do I, however i'd also love a cat. They seem so intelligent and easy to care for as opposed to a dog. I like the odd night away and a cat would be fine. A dog, not so much! (cue costs of pet sitting!).
    @wh_em In my job, me and my best friends often have days where 'we just don't know anything'. It could be a difficult patient or just something complex and that's it for the day. 'I don't know anything' is a common thread amongst our whatsapp group haha. But having a cry, or moan about it certainly makes you feel better and the day after.. 'I do know things' and everyone is getting better!! :smile: Don't worry about one mistake, its what you learn from it that's important! :smiley:

    People who don't like cats have never truly felt the love of a good cat!! I will admit there are some psychopathic cats out there...the one I'm staying with at the moment is a little unhinged. BUT my cats are incredibly loving and affectionate! One of them is dog than cat, even my best friend who hates cats pulled this one in for a cuddle. Hmm, so you don't like cats but you'd also love to have one at the same time? I'm unsure of your position on them now!

    Thank you for that! When rereading your comment today I had forgotten what I was so down about at work - I think I've recovered! And yesterday my colleague from last week who recognised the mistake I made admitted to making a mistake yesterday which made me feel more human! I think what made it worse last week is that my colleague, who is also my friend, didn't tell me off, she just gave me a disapproving noise like "hmph" and the atmosphere in the room felt horrible afterwards :( I think I would rather somebody scream blue murder at me! Must be throwbacks from my childhood and mum losing her rag!

    Payday today, a day late because of various reasons but I don't mind :)

    £180 to the investments category - originally put £450 into it today but remembered the "taking accountability" thoughts I had the other week and put £200 into paying off the £1000 I owe my dad.
    £200 into my annual expenses fund - I am to save £230 pm and this will cover any annual bills such as the council tax, MOT, car insurance etc.
    £200 into the mortgage fund, getting ready for the 1st September for that mortgage payment, I need to top that fund back up as I moved it all to my emergency fund as mentioned previously.
    Then the remaining £300 odd went across various bills and to a little bit to my credit card as I realised when I bought the mattress last month I didn't actually put the money aside for the credit card, so the payment is off by £400.

    Weirdly I haven't paid any tax for the last 3 weeks/3 payments, I knew it might be off with the first two but I thought it would have corrected itself by now. I spoke to HMRC yesterday and got it resolved, apparently they had no record of me being furloughed/employed and thought I left my last job in March and that was it, so they had my earnings for the FY as £0 lol. Despite the fact that on my P45 its got my finish (furlough) date as beginning of July. No idea what happened there!

    Friday I went to an osteopath to get my back/neck/shoulders sorted out and it was like magic, honestly felt so much better. She suggested that when we're stressed or going through something traumatic we often carry it in our back and shoulders and it creates problems with our breathing, which gets us more stressed etc etc. Anyway, feeling much better and I've got another appointment this Friday.

    We viewed and then booked our wedding venue last weekend! 30th April 2022 here we come! Very excited about it and quite looking forward to planning the rest of it with Mrs wh_em. She also seems much more keen about taking my last name and having hers as a middle name - I'll also be taking hers as a middle name and so will our kids. I don't really like double barrelled names, think they're too long but a middle name is a compromise. We'll be the Wh family :) If I put her name as a middle name my middle 3 initials spell CAT so I'm absolutely delighted about that  :D

    A little bit of gardening over the weekend, mowed the lawn and trimmed up the edges of it. It was looking a bit messy after a few weeks of no attention. It always looks so nice after a little spruce. I worked on it throughout the day but it was so HOT I had to keep taking breaks.

    Anyway, that's about it for now, figures for this page to follow

    Have a good one

    Glad you managed to get the tax sorted - I've had my P45 sent back to me 3 times through our internal post so I haven't bothered to send it back to them again as I know my tax is correct now.  And congratulations for booking your wedding venue!  I kind of miss the planning stage because it all went so smoothly (or maybe that's just rose tinted glasses for me!).  I didn't want to lose my maiden name when we got married because it's unusual but my first name is actually double barrelled so definitely didn't want to go down that route so changed it all via deed poll to make my maiden name a middle name.  I confused everyone at my old job because I never changed my name officially with them but they kept receiving documents in my "official" name and then when I started the new job they were all commenting on my unusual middle name :lol:
    Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £
    LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000
    Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 2017

    That would have been a bit of a mouthful to go double double barrelled! Quadruple barrelled... I was hesitant to change my name because of the industry I'm in all my work is credited to my current name and I'm not sure I'd want that to change. I think Mrs wh_em would have liked me to take her name because she's the last of her name so I think taking it as a middle name for all of us is a good way of solving that. When you do a normal name change (woman taking the husbands name in marriage) do you not need to change it officially by deed poll then? Is it just changing all your official documents and that's it?!

    Yes, it's still suitably misogynistic and a massive throwback to when women were a possession to be owned by a man (first the father then the husband)! A woman can just change her surname on marriage to her husband's name without any further documentation, just by signing her married name. All you need to change official documents is the marriage certificate. For a woman to change to a double barrelled name or for a man to change his name in any way needs to go via deed poll.

    oh yes I'm familiar with the ownership element of it just didn't know the process after marriage. In addition I always found the change from Miss to Mrs after marriage incredibly infuriating so from the age of 22ish I've used the title of Ms. because I didn't like the fact that my name should depend on somebody else(!) I hate that we still keep these throwbacks.

    I really do not get this me. The UK mindset is obsessed with paying off a mortgage fully, only to then die 20 years later with £500k in bricks and mortar not going into heaven with you.
    Worse still are the ones who pay it off and then equity release it in 10-15 years, in effect wasting time and energy in paying it off when in their prime.
    I calculated that I would be 40-50k in interest on a mortgage over 30 years. £1k a year in interest is fine for me vs living frugally for 15 years, then having been 15 years mortgage free and then deciding I wasted 15 years of my life and suddenly cashing everything in at 50+ to get capital back. Each to their own though!
