    For sure but country of assembly makes a difference to component sourcing. A lot of the component suppliers shut up shop when Samsung left China. There are news reports about the impact on the supply chain economy there.

    Not clear what difference that makes? OP's question was basically unanswered and still relevant (arguably more so). I had a specific practical answer (Cellar plugin) so replied.

    I can recommend the Ethical Consumer (magazine and/or website) for useful info on the relative ethical positions of companies. It lets you drill rather deeper into the detail than just country of origin but includes plenty of factors. As this involves more effort we tend to use it mainly for larger items - though everyday items are mainly UK sourced/produced anyway.
