I transferred this years holiday to next year but I can’t get an insurance quote. Considering I’m supposed to get travel insurance ASAB it’s proving very difficult

Could you clarify why you can't get insurance. Too far ahead perhaps?0

We're in the same position, with a Florida holiday booked for Feb/Mar 2021 and no insurance. Most of the insurance companies have suspended the sale of travel insurance, although we have managed to get two single trip quotes - £328 and £698 - which is rather expensive compared to the £128 we paid for the same cover for our trip this February. We're going to wait and just keep checking, hoping things might change come August/September.

I think it will be the cost of insurance that will stop many people taking foreign holidays, especially to America.0

Staysure cancelled my wife's travel insurance cover yesterday due to ongoing health issues. I think what caused it is she has COPD and has had 3 chest infections in the past year. (cleared up now)
Problem is we have holidays already book, Egypt in October, India in January and Cyprus in May. Don't know what to do should we chance it and go without her being insured or cancel and lose nearly £10K

All of the ‘compare’ sites aren’t giving quotes at the moment and a few obviously think it’s too far ahead. It’s quite frustrating0

If your travel insurance covered these holidays until it was cancelled, i.e. the trips were within the policy dates, then you should be able to claim for cancellation on your policy.ian666 said:Staysure cancelled my wife's travel insurance cover yesterday due to ongoing health issues. I'd be most grateful for any advice as to how to get my money back from BUPA. My wife and I took out a annual travel insurance policy with them at the end of last year. We haven't used the policy because of the pandemic. I was told today that I can cancel my policy but that I will not get any money back. This doesn't seem at all fair nor at all reasonable. Is there anything I can do - say, contact the Ombudsman?

My Leisure Guard travel insurance is up for renewal in July and, apart from increasing by almost 40%, it now excludes any pandemic cover other than contracting it while away. So if you have to cancel before traveling due to COVID you're not covered. MSE advice is that "standard practice" according to FCA is for same terms to be carried over from previous policy to this one.Quote: "Financial Conduct Authority has confirmed to us that if you had an annual policy before mid-March and renewed with the same insurer since, you SHOULD still be covered for coronavirus issues (as long as you were covered before you renewed). All the insurers we've spoken to – including all those listed in the table below – have confirmed this. So if you're rejected, go to the Financial Ombudsman and argue the firm isn't following "standard industry practice". Unquote. Doesn't seem to be the case with Leisure Guard.I have contacted LG but they're not budging so looks like they're not complying with FCA0

I saw a post on one of my flight forums yesterday, that Trailfinders have now started offering a new travel insurance policy that includes Covid-19 cover - both cover for if it's cancelled beforehand due to Covid-19, and also Covid-19 medical costs whilst away:

It's probably horrendously expensive, but if you're struggling thought you might want to take a look.
