I'm not sure if it's the same company but a poster on here said their insurer was covering COVID-19,  on the same basis,  just if you catch it,  not for travel disruption.
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

Yes , if you catch it ,or fall ill , while on holiday both your treatment and any repatriation are covered ( nobody else currently providing this)

If you had their cancellation and disruption cover prior to 13th march 2020 on existing policies then covid related travel disruption is still covered.

I think the "kick" needed to restart the travel industry from insurers is to provide cover against travel disruption as well.
But who in their right minds would do that right now?
  • Want to know when we can travel again if people with declared medical conditions and are over seventy can still travel have annual travel insurance with stay sure

I've been holding off cancelling our annual travel ins as it still had Covid-19 cover from the past and I know Aviva would like to not offer it on renewals. Perhaps the insurers should have realised, travel insurance without Covid-19 cover is as useful as a bikini in a snowstorm.

I believe Staysure policies cover medical treatment if you get Covid-19 on holiday, and repatriation flights.  If you bought your policy before March 19th and it included travel disruption then that element is covered.  From then on, there’s no travel disruption cover.  I can’t figure out if they’ll cover you for not being able to go on holiday because of having caught the virus just before you’re due to go.

Sorry that should be March 13th, not 19th.

  • All MSE's recomended travel insurance companies cover Covid19 cancellations. But they all exclude medical cover if you travel when FCO advises against all but essential foreign travel. We need to go to France asap to visit ageing relatives. This is essential for us, but not for my existing insurance company, apparently. Only need cover re poss hospitalisation bills above the EHIC 80% . Any suggestions?

No, they won't. I got an email inviting me to renew my daughter's, it was stated in that that it won't include cover if can't travel because  you are infected
