I want to close the account, not open another one instead!! Why would I use CASS to create a new bank account, crazy talk!
CASS does not open / create any accounts. It only switches an account into an existing account. It doesn't matter whether you opened that existing account last week or twenty years ago, as long as it is a current account with a provider which participates in CASS, which just about all do.

    I am out.

Option doesn't exist, I also saw that on google search, may just be for savings accounts?

I've called them again and waited to speak to someone this time. They have closed the account with no issue over the phone.
    I'll update the OP.

@Yorkshire_Pud: this option does not exist for current accounts. It's for some savings accounts only.
