Have you logged into his Twitch account?
To be blunt, plenty of girls making a killing getting boys/men to throw cash at a fantasy gamer girl.0 -
noisysaver said:We have looked into the Fortnite link but whilst my son does occasionally play the game, along with a bunch of other games, there is no way he could have done this via the PS4. I've investigated it thoroughly and if there is a mechanism by which he can take money, vis Google, from Pay Pal through the PS4, no one seems to be aware of it and no payments were made through the CC that I have set up on there, the account shows nothing. I also trust him regards the answers he gave when we confronted him about the possibility he may have made the purchases. He's been playing Fortnite since it came out, some 3 years now and we've never had any incident that would even cause us to think he may have done it. The fact that multiple Twitch subscriptions were purchased tell me it was fraudulent because why would you need more than 1?
I have personal experience of speaking to a customer on the very same thing. They to had spoken to their child about it and it had been flat denied.
While talking to them, I heard a voice in the background say "Who are you talking too?" to which their reply was "The bank". This was followed by a loud scream and a flood of tears... Seems until they realise how serious it has become denial is the best course of action.

To be honest I'm glad no one here has any clue as to how this could have happened as it adds weight to any claim I may make. To date I still cannot find any trace of this money outside of payments made through Pay Pal or how it could have been made without my permission.0

Of course, however the money having been paid through the PS4 is a dead end as previously stated. My son gets ample money to spend on the things he wants and would only need to ask if he wanted to spend through the system which he always has. He is a pre-teen child and has had a pretty rigorous grilling over this issue and I've no reason to doubt what he has told me - him being my child and everything.

So good news on this. I spoke with a Google rep via their chat system today, explained everything and by 11am all the money was refunded. Still no idea how it happened, Google won't even comment on how it happened only that it was taken via Google Play through Twitch, despite no purchases showing on my Google Play account. They also confirmed that any in-app purchases that could have been made through Family Link were protected by settings I had put in place over a year ago. Frustrating not to know exactly how and why, could still have been a hack, maybe they have info at their end they are not sharing and why the money was refunded so promptly.
3 months account activity here, nothing about paying anything to Twitch. All transactions happened between May 10-13.
Google's chat system is hidden away but if you ever need it, it's here and operated by a human, not AI: https://support.google.com/googleplay/contact/play_chat1 -
Are you sure your son does not have his own google account? Linked to your paypal details, which in turn are linked to your bank.
Good Google that have refunded the £700, but where too, if it is not showing in your google account? They won't just send a figure like that to a random paypal account without reason.
Would be interesting to see what happens now. Might be a idea to keep a eye on him and see if when playing game starts to get agitated as purchases. Or even if a account get closed down.
Does he have a twitch account, or view the site?
Might also be worthwhile checking his emails.Life in the slow lane0 -
