  • I listen to PlanetRock but have  a rubbish memory. Thanks for this. I check in at some point before 5 and write the answer on a piece of paper trapped in my phone case. Come the day it is my phone that rings I am in. Thank you. It is very appreciated.
  • I think you will find that Motorhead has a heavy metal umlaut on the second "o". How does that affect the pronounciation......................?

@Comping_Rich said yesterday you can do the "listen again2 to hear the presenter saying it. I couldn't find how to do the umblaut I did know it was there. If you want to take over for the rest of the week and put every  dot and dash feel free

I do listen to planet rock occasionally when I fancy a change, as I get bored of listening to the same station.  They do mention the legend of the day in the morning just after 6.30 (yes I am awake at that time of the day as hubby goes to work then!).

  • It was a jӧke...  I didn't mean to belittle your efforts. Sorry if you were offended. We all know that the heavy metal umlaut doesn't affect pronounciation, but just makes everything louder. Maybe there should be a diacritic to indicate tongue location.
I am busy practising pronouncing "BIBBIDI-BOBBIDI-BOO" just in case they phone me today; there will be trouble if this is wrong.

  • Of course it depends on the accent of each presenter too though (they all give the answer on their shows during the day) - but the prize man Darren Redick is American so pronounced the now infamous Hawkwind as "Hockwind" or "Harkwind" - so was debating whether to humour him or continue in a plain ol' English Hawk-stylee...but I'll never know, as I wasn't picked. And surely it's BIPPIDI? You were warned!
