No but I thought there are claws that states you cant or shouldn't sell a piece of land if the agreed buyer is spending out money on it for an application. If there isn't there certainly should be.
There's no need for a law when there is already a method to solve this 'problem' - as has already been said, your Dad could have had a contract with the seller dependent on him gaining PP.

I can only assume he didnt feel a contract was necessary,  as he felt he could trust her. Maybe it was mentioned but she might have said theres no need to do that. Or it might have seemed over the top at the time.
A big mistake now I will agree.
  • It’s 20 years ago! Do you not think it’s a bit weird the pair of you sitting there like Mr Burns giving the evil eye to a neighbour for using land that came legally with his house purchase?! Your dad was foolish not to keep the neighbour updated. She clearly assumed it was over as he hadn’t said anything, that’s on him, not the seller or the new owner. Maybe you should move so you don’t have to be so wound up over something so very petty that wasn’t actually your issue in the first place! Even if by some miracle you got his money back (you won’t) it doesn’t solve the parking problem or the venom you clearly feel over it.
