Orange Text Saver

Common problem with Orange Text Saver (also known as Orange Out Here). Orange have been trying their level best to get rid off customers who have this package on their PAYG tariffs, as it brings in no revenue for them.I've got this and had a similar problem last year... None of my texts were going through free, and it was only when I dialled 453 to check my balance that I realised it was really low. I phoned Orange and they said I don't have the package and they had no idea what I was on about (the Orange Text Saver is REALLY old and the new staff are clueless). Had to phone several times and spoke to a supervisor. After about 2 weeks, had a phone call from Orange and they investigated the issue and told me that its occured because a change in the systems they are using and my account wasn't updated properly. As compensation, I was offerred all the texts I was charged, but refused this because I was hesitant in sending chargable texts (10p) when I had something like £2 remaining - I would have had to top up again and surely Orange wouldn't have refunded me the top up by CASH! I asked for the full text allowance 5 texts (50p) over the duration that I was affected (stretched over 3 weeks), and also the cost of calling Orange (25p per call).Make sure you do the same by getting the most from them, and claiming every single expense that you incur whilst sorting this issue out. Let us know how you get on, and any problems, let me know and I'll try help further. Continue using your free texts - all 5 and don't worry about being charged for the last 2, as Orange should refund them back to you.0

Thanks for this mate. Seems to be working now. Can they really get rid of customers on the package? It's been working for me for 4 years now. Don't want to lose it!0

(Whoops, dont know why my previous message didn't split into seperate paragraphs... looks awful to read... sorry!)............I'm not sure what the legal stance is on Orange getting rid of customers with this package, but I had trouble with them about 4years ago when my PAYG phone was stolen. I bought a replacement sim card from Orange and they gave me the same number, but refused to give me the Orange Out Here package as they weren't issuing it out anymore. I argued that I merely wanted the same account as I previously had - just a case of switching the account info onto the new sim! How hard can that be?! After arguing, they came to the conclusion that they'd grant me the package as a gesture of goodwill, but if my sim card was stolen/lost in future, they wouldn't give me the Orange Out Here package..... Told the Orange supervisor that next time a thief wants my phone, I'll negotiate to give the phone if the thief lets me keep the sim card (as it's more valuable to me)!Orange will find any pathetic excuse to get rid of you from the package, but legally, I don't think they can do that as we paid (think it was £15) years ago for 5 free texts lifetime.0

make sure the message centre number is correct in your text message settings. it must be +447973 1009790

Yes, should be +44 7973 100 979 but don't see how it would have changed for DonGotti unless it was changed manually.... also, if the smsc is invalid, would throw up the error "MESSAGE SENDING FAILED", or something like that.
DonGotti let us know what you did to resolve the issue, and did you phone Orange to get a refund for texts you've been charged for?0 -
on my phone it sometimes changes to the normal SMS message centre number if you swap sims. eg. put in my vodafone sim, use it and then put back to orange... phone picks up message centre number from the sim (which is the standard one).0

I have one of those text saver, it was supposed to last only for 1 yr but I am still getting 5 free texts a day. I want to change my payg tariffs to one where you get 10% discount when you top up,but was advised that I might lose the 5 free txts if I do. Any advice, pl. Thanks0

I have the 5 free texts a day for life as well, and tried a couple of times for various offers that have been running, but am always told i will lose the texts, and once changed, there is no going back.
As they don't want people on the free text tariff, they have you over a barrel. No way are they ever going to be flexible over it. Unfotunately it's in their interest to be difficult0 -

Yes that is true, if you change tariff you will lose it and there will be no going back!

the only thing it's compatible with (that I know of) is the 5 years free evening calls offer (from a couple of years ago).
there was a product called 'outhere' which was 5 texts a day for life and then after that 'text saver' which was limited to 1 year.0
