Sky sports free to air

I see sky are advertising they are showing some football free to air on pick tv. Will these football matches also be on sky sports free to air or not ?

Sky Sports is not free, it never has been.

Sky Sports Mix on the other hand, is free (with your base package anyway), and Pick is on Freeview.

It says on the Sky website: "With 92 Premier League matches of the current season remaining, Sky Sports subscribers will be able to watch 39 exclusive live games with a further 25 available more widely via Sky’s free-to-air ‘Pick’ Channel and simulcast on Sky Sports, allowing the whole nation to be part of the return of live sport."

So the 39 will be behind the Sky Sports paywall as per usual, and the other 25 are on Pick, but Pick doesn't have a HD channel so if you want to see them in HD Sky Sports is your way.
