Tonik Energy - My Thoughts

I have been with Tonik energy for around 2 1/2 years now, I switched from edf due to high prices, Tonik was one of the cheapest for my needs. In the first say 18 months they where great, the website was useable, you had a monthly graph of usage, statements where generally ok and support was ok too. But for the past year now it has gone from good to bad and only now looking online my suspicions where right.
Since they re designed the website it has been awlful to use, no longer can you see the usage grapth, my statements are all over the place, my last statment(£130 normally around
£70 in winter), is 8 March 2020 to 9 May 2020, yet the one before is 8 March 2020 to 9 April 2020???? and all of the others make no sense with months overlapping statments???.
My account now is -£17 due to them lowering my DD when there was no need. In the past I could make sense of them and got one statment for that month. The only way to get support is to email them as they only take urgent calls due to covid, im just glad my 19 months is up in Novemeber as will be switching away from this shambles, please stay away from Tonik!.

You can switch away whenever you like, you're not tied to them until November.  If a better deal comes along and you have no exit fees, its pointless staying with Tonik if a) they're expensive for you, and b) you don't like the service.

You are lucky to get a reply from their 'hello' email address. I received a reply that said the account was no longer monitored or active. They still owe me money 3 months after leaving them. They were good but now awful
  • I coiuldn't agree more with the above comments. We have been with Tonik for about 3 years, and at first they were excellent. I sang their praises to everyone. Not any more. Since they changed their website we haven't had a statement since February 2020, we have emailed them at least five times asking for an updated balance, and a reduction in our direct debit payment, and apart from the standard reply email, have had no correspondence from them at all. We have now lost our patience, and have today switched, with a saving of about £300 a year to Octopus.  I am so disappointed.

Had communication issues with them myself. I found Facebook Messenger the best way to talk to them in the end. Post a disgruntled post on their page and they'll soon reply and ask you to DM them

I've just noticed something very similar with my own bills, it appears they are charging twice for the period March - April. I'm wondering if this has happened to a lot of people, and how soon they will fix it ...

I emailed them, heard nothing back beyond a bland acknowledgement. I went through Resolver, and within two days I have received the following:

"I do apologize for the incontinence, I had a look into the account I escalated query for the refund on account a bill on the account."

I'm hoping they mean 'inconvenience' and that the money will get back to me shortly ...

  • Having done my own research I telephoned tonik energy prior to the expiry of my fixed term dual fuel contract with Bristol Energy. I thought I'd sealed an excellent deal that was going to save me £900 over the year (yes, £900) but the switch date came and went and I was still with Bristol Energy. I duly phoned tonik energy who denied ever having had contact with me. My telephone records confirm that I was on the phone to them for 20 min and 58 secs on 15th April - the time it took to agree the deal. No response to my emails. I can only think that they're trying to renege on the deals they did during early lock-down, because of the rock-bottom energy prices at the time...

Yes, I liked them at first but they have gone downhill lately. See my diatribe about them on the other Tonik thread. I’m only two months since I switched and looking at reports from others in the same position I think I am in for a long wait.
