Hi  i am looking for cheap insurance for fast food delivery. If you work for uber food or Deliveroo who do they use for this ?
background i wish to deliver for a small Indian 10 hours a week but fast food delivery insurance at £150 to £170 months makes the job worthless
Thanks in advance

    Hi All,
i have normal insurance (Social, domestic and pleasure) for my car. I wish to deliver fast food Fri evening and Saturday evening only( 10 hours a week)
My insurance company admiral will not offer this. Has anyone out there found a company that does reasonable top-up insurance that would cover me for this?
So far i have only been able to find companies that want to cover for combined normal domestic and fast food. but no one who will offer a top-up for just the fast food element
If i can find a cost-effective top-up i will have to turn the work down
    Many thanks, in advance

I would think the restaurant would cover your mileage expenses, no? So it shouldnt be an issue if you dont think the quotes are cheap.

no, the insurance is down to the driver i this case. If i deliver without the correct insurance its 6 points on the license and a hefty fine. The challenges i have is to get at an affordable cost on top of my normal car insurance. if i had no insurance to start with it would be easy to find a combine normal + fast food insurance.
But as i have normal insurance i need a top-up for fast food delivery

You could find a combined policy, and then cancel your existing policy. There would obviously be a cost.

Go and drive for dominos then, they'll cover you.

Hi all a bit more info below
I have a similar issue i only wish to delivery for 10 hours a week and am finding it very very expensive to get this insurance.
I believe that most of the drivers for the small restaurant are driving uninsured (a disaster waiting to happen)
I had a long chat with admiral insurance .they do not offer the type of insurance i need but they did say
"Business class1, 2 or 3 does not cover fast-food delivery i will need Commercial insurance or specific fast food delivery insurance"
I have spoken to the restaurant owners and they have normal business level insurance wish is not sufficient at all. i think a lot of the little Chinese/Indian takeaways will be the same and misguided on what they need.
i am trying to find out about uber/deliveroo it looks like they only insure their own.
Currently fast-food delivery would cost me between £150 to £170 a month making the little job on the side a dead duck.
If you work for uber or deliveroo do you have any useful info on their insurance?
So the search goes on for a more cost-effective cover ...

There will be FB groups for Uber Eats and Deliveroo drivers to share their experiences. Ask in there.

If you're only doing 45hrs/month, then £150/mo works out to £3.30/hr... If that makes it "worthless", then the job is paying a derisory amount anyway.
If you do twice as many hours, the hourly cost is halved.
