Hi Hypno, I have not been on MSE for a few days, I have been escaping to my BF's. Now that Social Services are not funding my caring for BBJ, I have been able to go the few miles to my BFs and escape babies and the mess. Although when I get back I have no idea where to begin and all the destressing piles back on my shoulders in a matter of, erm, seconds...
Good luck with the trip. Driving on the otherside of the road is relatively easy. But Overtaking is the hardest part as your on the wrong side of the road to see whats coming the other way. (Have a good co-pilot in the front seat with you.).:D I once drove all the way home from the Vendee to Northampton, via the channel tunnel, and only stopped to fuel the car and go to the loo. I made sandwiches, and also bought some. It was raining and the girls were small,....It was the drive from hell. I left at 10.30am and arrived back at the house at 3.30 am, just short of 800 miles on the clock. Agh what memories......

Enjoy your skiing. We will be thinking of you.

I hope the drive goes well hypno. We did it in under 12 hours both ways - but then we're much nearer to the Channel than you. I had dreaded it but found driving on French motorways MUCH nicer than driving here. They are so much emptier, and nicer too. But I expect you're a seasoned continental driver.

I hope you have a wonderful time and a real break from all the worries of the past year.

Hypno, Castleford is the one near me, it's about 15 minutes away. It is SO fab. They do tobogganing too for people who are too crap to ski, so I might have a go at that some time!

Ski Rossendale is nearer to where I grew up - you could get a bus there for £1.40...lol!

Hope you have an amazing time in France, and good luck to the Hypno-kids with whatever they are doing out there (are they training or racing?).

Still here (just) but last night I had my karate admin thing to do then went to tesco to try and stock up on food for the trip, on the basis that I can self cater out there. By the time I had done that, and carried on packing etc it was pretty late!

Today I am at work - my last day  then I will come home, get changed, and away we go!

Going back to earlier "journey related" comments - I have never driven abroad, so am not looking forward to it! I don't think I will be doing much in the way of overtaking - taking it nice and steady!!

Brooms down - El........indeed :rotfl: enjoy the time off:rotfl:

Snaggles, the children are training the first week and racing the second, so plenty to keep everyone occupied. I will be trying my hardest to enjoy the snow :D

I expect to find wifi out there, (being a good DFWer I need to keep an eye on online banking!) so may well "speak" to you all again soon. If not, then enjoy the peace and quiet!!

You will be fine I promise. I was dreading driving in France but it really is no worse than driving in England, and in fact the roads are better and the drivers less speedy and aggressive. The only thing to watch out for is roundabouts, where you have to go the 'wrong' way.

I hope you don't spend too much of your holiday online!
