The figure is 1/12 of my annual salary, so is correct, sadly, and nothing to do with being a short month. I had worked out my expected net pay from the snowball calculator which is obviously not correct, so I need to find a more reliable calculation figure!

    Bah  Oh well!

thanks benben, I will go and have a look.

OH has just called me - HSBC have called - he has a card with them with a balance of £6463.70 against a credit limit of £6800.

HSBC say that on 18th Feb, (the day they rang to offer him the reduced APR) he made a further transaction that by coincidence equals the amount previously outstanding........a further £6463.70

Now, obviously, to me, it appears to be an error on their part......either manual or computer - for the outstanding balance to be EXACTLY doubled.

HSBC, however, are telling him "there is nothing we can do" - I mean, !!!!!!!!!!!

    Flippin numpties

emergency tax.......at least that should be repaid in due course, but it doesn't help me now!

Otherwise the snowball calculator and the one benben gave, are the same, so that is ok.

Tell them there's two things they can do.
    1. Sort it out.
    2. Receive your complaint from the regulator, write a grovelling letter of apology to you, pay you compensation for distress - then sort it out.

    Which would they prefer?

Seems the numpty that OH has spoken to would prefer option 2.........!

The online statement shows that there was an opening balance of £6463.70.

Then last week they debited a further £6463.70 and the same day made a credit to cancel it out of an equal amount. All OK, no harm done.

Then apparently yesterday they have debited that figure of £6463.70 again, but this time no credit transaction to cancel it out!

Of course.....if HSBC want to do battle with someone who is used to having the bit between her teeth when dealing with numpty banks, then so be it.........
