Evening all,
I did try to do some bingo, but I asked twin1 to take over when I went to the loo, and she used up all my money too. didnt tell me, so I have never tried again, as it cost me money I hadnt got at the time.
I havent been about much this week, what with internet problems, then back to work. I have spent a few days away as well, so I have been frantically trying to read up on the various threads here that I try to follow.!! Think its taken me 40 minutes just to read the last 3 pages of your thread Hypno.!!
Plodding along here, not really managed to do half of the things I wanted to do, and certainly not managed to save much, what with the move, the replacement car, and things. Was able to give my parents a hamper bought in January good offers, from Tesco, (£9.97) with £50 worth of stuff. Just took out the christmas pudding, and swapped the white wine for Red, and the drinking chocolate for Coffee. Gave it to them for their birthday. Mums last sunday, Dads today. They were thrilled. And I had change from a £10 so that was good. Even though it was what I spent in January.
Went out for Lunch today with DBF, and I was due to pay but he did, so I got him to put away £10 for me towards my sons Xbox I am saving for instead.
We went into an ASDA, on our travels, and I grabbed a good deal on Nappies for the babies. Got 3 packets of Huggies, and 2 packets of babywipes in a Toy Box, for £15.00. I normally pay £5.99 for one packet of Nappies, so was quids in there. Not sure how much the wipes normally are but they are over £1.75 a packet I am sure. so I do feel good about that.
Now I need to get my act back together again into MSE stride as I have not really tried since moving 3 weeks ago. Gosh is it only 3 weeks? Crikey it seems a lot longer.!!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Hi Mooloo!! Good to hear from you. You are doing really well with getting on top of financial stuff, especially with all the big "stuff" going on in the last few weeks.
Now you are settled in, you can get back to it big time!!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

Not sure I am settled in, there are boxes and bags everywhere still. What with going to work, I have been pacing myself and the boxes and bags have been ignored. I want to attack them but cant lift them, so its been a bit of a shut eyes and dont look moment. Oh well it wont go anywhere. But I do have to get them sorted soon, I cant find the contents of my Knicker drawer for a start, so I have only got the ones that I had in the laundry. (MInd you thats still probably a dozen or so pairs.)
My sewing things are still sitting in a corner in various rooms, and I really do want to see if I can sew again. Whether my arm will take it or not. I think that I could maybe use the sewing to make up some pin money again. I used to do alterations and repairs and make wedding dresses many moons ago, so I think I could maybe do it again? But is there any money in it what with the cheap prices at Primark etc??:cool:When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Regardless of prices at Primark etc, people have quality clothing that needs alteration, new zips, etc etc.
I would happily pay for someone to replace zips in suit skirts/trousers - the suits are good quality "classics" but whilst I am good with a needle and thread, I don't have a sewing machine, so zips are a step too far.....I am sure there are lots of people like me (heaven help us all!) who would pay for alterations etc rather than throw away something that is otherwise in excellent condition, and of a classic style etc!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. I shall have to bear that in mind. Yes replacement of Zips is easier if you have a sewing machine. It can be done by hand but you need to do back stitch to make sure the stitching is strong. Then you dont want it showing on the garment. Perhaps I ought to have a look into the prices around, see if I can find out the going rate for things now. I would definitely have no idea what the charges would be, and I dont want to undercharge. I am out to make the money afterall. Definitely have to make that a serious decision, to try and get the machines out, and see if the arm will cope, and if so, what jobs I could tackle and take on. !! Not sure it would be cost effective to do home visits like I used to do in the 90's.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0

I would also pay for mending and alterations - and I did recently pay to have a new zip put in a coat - £20 - it was a long zip.
My neighbour makes good money making wedding dresses and other things.
There's definitely a market for hand sewn things - but you'd need to know how to market yourself.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

I would much rather pay £10 or £15 for a new zip in a good quality existing skirt or pair of trousers, than to discard them and buy either a cheaper quality replacement, or to buy another pair of expensive trousers that I can't afford!
I def think that you could make some useful extra money, Mooloo.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
mooloo that sounds like a fab idea! wish i had a talent like that that i could use!Aug £10 a day £0/£10000

I think that your right Hypno. I better get my act together and get that sewing machine out!. ( Well I have about 4 machines, one overlocker!)
It would be some useful money with these growing babies. We already need to get BBP a highchair soon. BBJ wont be far behind her. I could probably fund that with the sewing!! Well maybe a bit too late for that, but otherthings could be funded if I can market myself. Where to begin.? Bit or research then. :TWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
