Too late for me, but a warning for other potential Shiply users.
Organised for an oil tank to be picked up and delivered for a fair price.
After Shiply picked up item, driver phoned & complained the pick-up address was a long way off where he thought. I gave him the correct address and postcode so not sure what else I can do.
Due for arrival with me tomorrow, he calls me up tonight to say the tank is too big, and says it's 8" longer than I stated. I got dimensions from manufactures website. He says it's so big he cannot carry another planned load.
I have 2 options, pay £40 him to take it back to pick-up point, or an extra £60 to deliver as planned! And he wants a bank transfer for full amount before leaving.
I have to pay it, but others be warned. I'm sure most of their drivers are honest, but this one isn't.
Rant over.

It's not Shipley, it's the individual company . I would just retake the actual measurements

How is that possible when it's already been picked up?

Thanks for your advice. I'm 100% (well - 99%) sure the website dimensions I quoted are correct ( google Deso H1800BT  ) (I can't share links yet :/ ) , and yes - I quoted the largest size, not the footprint, but the driver's telling me that he doesn't care what the website or I say, he's measured the length  "at well over 2000"
I daren't complain to Shiply till my tank is home, but I'm well aware that after that will be too late.

You do understand Shipley is just a website / service they don't actually do the delivery they just allow carriers and customers to find each other

Yes I do, but they've asked for a review already now that it's been picked up. And don't feel I can leave an honest one yet so as to warn other potential customers of this particular driver..

I realise I should, but I can't get home from work ~30 miles away (I've arranged assistance to assist with offload). He'll be dealing with my wife who hasn't been told of the situation, as far as she's concerned - everything's as planned, but 2 days late (another driver issue - I took Wednesday afternoon off work & he didn't pick up as planned!))I don't want any drama for her sake. If I was there, he's already got my money and I wouldn't want to get into a confrontation on my doorstep. Like I said it's too late for me, this is a warning to other potential users to take care.

The dimensions I can see on the website are of the tank itself. Your courier will only care about the overall size of the crate - I presume there'll be a reasonable amount of packaging around the tank.

No packaging at all, just the tank

Good question. To be honest I just searched for Shiply on the forum and most of the posts were in this section. If a mod needs to move it, fair enough. I just wanted my experience on the forum in case anyone else was thinking of Shiply.
