If your Swiss knife blade is under 3" and does not lock open you are fine to carry it without reason.

    That is not contradicted here

But seems to be contradicted here

If the blade is less than 7.6cm (3 inches) long you will not be charged with simple possession. But the police may feel you are carrying an offensive weapon and prosecute you under a different law."

To the user above who asked about his axe, it is a bladed instrument, so would be illegal, unless you habitually pull off the road randomly and camp out instead of going home to bed.
  • I've got a weapon thats bigger than 3 inches ... :)

But not by much, according to the wall in the ladies' in the Money Savers Arms.

But, don't worry: all you need to buy Viagra online is a laptop with a 3.5" floppy. In fact, the same as you need to buy it any other way.

    I'll get my coat.

I used to carry a billhook in the boot of my car, but I am an arborist and hedger and have trade qualifications. I usually have a multi tool in my glove box as well, the pliers are good for changing blade fuses.

If you've got a picnic set with you your ok. it's if the kitchen knife is on it's own in the glovebox/door well you've got some difficult questions to deal with

…….If your worried about being searched then think about the way you dress and act. If you find yourself wearing baggy shellsuits and hang about on council estates I would worry!

However if you dress fairly smartly, carry yourself in a professional way and keep a low profile most Policemen wont even notice your presence……...

it also helps if you are 50 & grey haired rather than 20 & long haired
  • I am newer on this but as per i know that there is no permission for keeping Swiss army knife in your personal car...I feel good after read many replies to your post and i like them. Thanks.
  • As per i know that if you have licenses for that then it should be there. I hope that you have licenses for that, and it is also considered that it is for at that place where not more people come and see that. Thanks.

So, all of the knives in our picnic set have quite sharp blades more than 3" long.
    This law is mad!
