When we’ve had chilli I use the leftovers to make a lasagneSealed pot challenge 822
Jan - £176.66 :j2 -
No idea what happened to my reply but it certainly isn't here! So will try again. I'm too lazy to bother making lasagne with the LO chilli - it's far easier to stretch it with more beans so it's almost a veggie chilli, LOL!

Thanks @joedenise. What I don’t get is why our garden, you don’t walk past our house we’re on a private drive, only a couple of metres but still! I’m very intrigued to know! If it is deliberate it won’t be the first trouble we’ve had and I’m going to seriously think about moving as we only rent here and we wanted to buy next year but doesn’t have to be here. Thanks for the thoughts on stretching the bolognese, we ended up having fish and chips, paid for by work as we both couldn’t be bothered to cook! Ended up doing 150 burpees and 2.5 hours of training today! Am more than a little pooped. Just chilling now, don’t need to get up until 0900 tomorrow which is great, going to sleep will full earplugs in and hope to get 8 hours!!!
Will go shopping tomorrow and will use the ideas to stretch the mince out as I think that’s on the agenda tomorrow.Still haven’t spent any more money out of my account.3 -
Am still yet to go shopping!!!! Very bare fridge and cupboards.....so, so far today OH has had the last 4 peices of bread for toast at, I had cornflakes and we’re having huge bowls of porridge made with water with peanut butter and banana for lunch! Will go shopping when I pick the children up. Let’s stick to budget, I’ll
let you know how I get on!1 -
Ok. So I’ve been shopping, with some vouchers I managed to get it down to £31.87, of which I’ve paid cash. I’ve got £22 of usable money, and £7 of vouchers, although £3.50 is sainsburys and I struggle to find things cheap enough in there. I did forget loads of things as had very tired children in tow so will get the rest maybe next week when I need to restock bread, fruit and milk. Might actually keep some bread in the freezer.I am very pleased with myself today, I had a PT session online booked for 7.45pm and I absolutely didn’t want to do it, just too tired and such hard work having to program and get all changed and presentvwke and sort the room out and get the children to bed in time.
I also had t done mine or OHs dinner. But I pulled my socks up and just did it, so didn’t lose £25 (already in budget) and they had a great time as did I! So lesson to be learned there. Finally made spag Bol for dinner, was ok but the carrots hasn’t cooked properly. I just about made enough to have with pasta tomorrow. Need to look at Meal
plan and see what else I forgot! I was very distracted by v tired children.I’m still awaiting quite a few payments which I need to allocate still can’t quite get my head around money in and out this month yet. Will have a look later. Have got to get up at 6 as have another PT. so tired already 😴2 -
Ok managed to get through my 6am PT, sort the children for school and go back to bed for a couple of hours. Went and did a very lack lustre workout then picked the children up from school and we went to the park for an hour with scooters and bikes, even in the dark, they loved it! When we went home we watched the end of nanny McPhee and then we all had left over bolognese for dinner. The children loved the fact I’d left the ‘worms’
long for a change for full slurpidge!I’m currently working out money to try and get to the end of the year with the amount I want paid off, throwing everything I can to the CC. Have set a goal of September 21 to buy the house but really need to work hard to make that happen!Leggings have only just been dispatched so won’t get them until the middle of next week and to be honest there will only be 10 days of online classes left until the 2nd of Dec if lockdown ends when it should. So I think I’m just going to send them back and stick with the 2 pairs of sort of useable ones I’ve already got!So that will be £48 to the Christmas fund which is very much needed. My tax bill is going to be huge and I’ve accounted for about £500 worth so it’s not going to be enough. Not sure when it will need to be paid by, going to try and get my return done by the end of the month. Will obv need some food budget next month as can’t live on no budget again as have cleared everything out!Just chilling watching tv for a change! Although am doing budgets too! It is very important for me to do it every week or so, so that I don’t lose track and I keep myself accountable! As so often I just think oh I’ll just buy this or whatever when I really don’t have the budget for it! I just need to be super scrimpy and focussed until September! It’s so hard at the moment as don’t really know how much money is coming in etc.5 -

Thanks Queen of the Hive, lovely to see you, how are you?Because I’m me and I like to make my already chaotic life harder, I’m going to add dieting/healthy eating into the mix. I’m training a lot but am eating way too much so am managing to gain weight!!!! Which I don’t need or want. So I need to go on a sort of diet.
The problems with the way I eat are: I eat far too much bread, pick randomly at junk food, eat enough to feed a rather large man and I like biscuits and chocolate and cheese, and I don’t seem to get in my 5 a day at all. I rarely eat fruit. I love it,
I’m just lazy, I eat a banana every day but that’s about it, there’s veg in dinners but not enough of it. I have sooo much milk in my huge cups of tea it’s about 50cals each one and I drink a lot!Now usually I’ll pick some fad diet and buy all the food at a huge premium and the diet lasts all of 1-3 days, Keto was my last attempt and it literally lasted a day. I still have a freezer full of cauliflower rice!!! 🤦🏻♀️My other problem is because I train a lot, between 1-3 hours a day I need to eat a lot and absolutely can’t stand to be hungry. And because I’m awake about 19 hours a day I have a lot of day to be hungry. I use MyFitnessPal a lot as it’s free, I just need to find filling foods that work. And of course, this time, that are super cheap. Fortunately I have mountains of protein powder but I can’t stand it with just water, I used to have it with frozen banana, hmmmm. I really struggle to get enough protein in as I’m building muscle etc I need a lot. I only want to lose around 4-7kg (havent stepped on the scales yet so not 100% how much it is) But it’s nothing too major, but needs sorting as is bothering me and I’m ‘on show’ if you like with my job every day, I’m supposed to look a certain way. The older you get the harder it gets, and 2 kids and being nearly 40 only makes it harder!!!
But I do love a challenge hence why I’m seeing this as a good thing rather than a bad thing. So I’m going to do some research and look at calories and macros and see what I can come up with on my super tight budget! Oh I do like to make things hard for myself! Would appreciate any thoughts or advice or suggestions if you have any!Much love1 -
@missymoo81 I think you're going to need to be thinking in terms of lentils and pulses for some budget protein as meat is by far the most expensive form of protein. Eggs are another option. I would try and limit the amount of bread and cheese that you eat - carbs and fat are definitely not good for weight loss! As regards the fact you use a lot of milk in your tea could you drop to skimmed milk as it is far lower calorie, not much more than half that of semi skimmed which I assume you are currently using.
I personally follow the Slimming World plan but think you might struggle with that because of the limits on bread, milk and cheese! Only 2 slices of wholemeal bread; 250ml semi skimmed milk (or 350ml skimmed) and 30g of cheddar cheese - all of the things you are eating a lot of. Eggs however you can eat as many as you like as they are a Free food.
Although I said you might struggle with SW I have to say it's the only "diet" plan I've tried where there is absolutely no need to be hungry and if you want to eat 24/7 then you can - as long as you eat the right foods!

@joedenise you’re such a star! Love how you’re always there to offer advice! I have dabbled in SW before and I do love a lot of the recipes. The problem is I’m such a gannet, ‘free foods’ in my head means gorge yourself stupid until you can’t move, so I don’t end up losing weight! I have a very addictive personality and struggle with grey areas, things need to be very black and white for me.You’re right with the milk, we actually use whole as the children drink it and OH has to eat about a million calories a day not to lose weight. I should just use a whole lot less and not have my hot cups of milk, which is what my tea resembles!
I think it’s more about fine tuning, and not reaching for the toast as a quick fix and sugary cornflakes! I’ve just been reading a library book and it’s called Body Fuel, I’ve had it since March but I’ve finally got around to reading it and it has some really interesting stuff in it! Will update little snippets as I come across them!2
