Site unusable this morning due to spam

The below username has been posting new spam threads every few minutes on the credit card board for at least an hour now.

A couple of us BG's were furiously deleting them as quick as we could early this morning and as soon as the forum team came online, we made them aware and it was dealt with.

sarah1972, I appreciate your hard work and that of the other BG's. But surely the forum team could easily solve this recurring problem? 

Newbies aren't allowed to post links on the forum. Would it be possible to have a similar system where newbies were limited to creating one new thread a day for the first couple of weeks?  This would put a stop to what happened today where someone created a new username and then flooded the forum with spam threads.

 Foreign language posts should be automatically hidden or deleted as spam given this is a U.K. forum

Surely this will just help the spammers.

I don't think its as easy as that unfortunately,  its not a recurring problem on the new forum and they are working on it and getting a solution that helps everyone.

If newbies could only do one post a day, that wouldn't stop copious usernames being created and then still mass spamming.
